The House of Scipii are one of the playable factions in Rome: Total War, that are available the first time you play the campaign.

Game Play
Game play with Romans is not hard. They have the most developed military and architecture. However they receive special missions from SPQR (Senate and People of Rome) for which they can be rewarded if successfully completed, or if missions are not completed they can become disliked.

Starting Position
The Scipii start in the west part of Italy controlling two cities.

CAPUA- Capital city , well developed and safe inside Italy.

MESSANA- Located on Sicily , Messana is good starting base for capturing the island.

Win Conditions
LONG CAMPAIGN: Hold 50 provinces including Rome

SHORT CAMPAIGN: Hold 15 provinces and destroy or outlast Carthage and Numidia (though frequently mods replace Numidia with Spain)

Units
Units are highly disciplined and trained in the art of warfare and consist mostly of powerful legionaries who throw pila before charging. Romans also have good cavalry support but have weak archers, only two types.

Unique Units
MIRMILlO GLADIATORS- each Roman faction has it's own gladiator. Gladiators are fighters that fight for glory and honour never thinking of defeat. They are superb in comparison to other less trained soldiers. Mirmillones are frequently considered the best of gladiator units.

CORVUS QUINQUIREME - quite a good battleship, a slight improvement over the regular Quinquireme. Can be recruited, if you have an Awesome Temple to Neptune in your capital.

DECERES - the best battleship available to any nation, Deceres requires a Pantheon for recruitment. They are better than Corvus Quinquiremes in all aspects, including crew (120 men per Decere).

Strategy
A possible strategy is for the Scipii to take Sicily as quickly as possible, along with Sardinia (Recruit one hastati in Capua turn 1, then send them with a family member and three other hastati and maybe some Samnite mercenaries to the north of Sardinia turn 2. Don't wait or the Julii will get there first). After Carthage is eliminated, Take over the rest of Spain progressively at the same time as you expand into Western Africa. Garrison Egypt will be the biggest problem for the entire game, as they send a seemingly endless stream of armies across the desert.

* See House of Scipii - RTW guide for a comprehensive guide.

In June of 2007, unimpressed by how modding information was organized, he formed the TW: Mod Squad as a way to help new modders learn to mod and keep information organized. When he announced his intention to teach a mapping class, he was contaced by Professor420 about doing the class in the newly created TWC:University. After extensive conversation with Professor420 and gigagaia he agreed, and was promoted to both the University Senate and the TWC:Consilium Belli.
In January of 2008 he resigned both his positions in the TWC:University and the TWC:Consilium Belli over the lack of progress and a dispute with some members of the Hex and instead decided to refocus on modding.
The Consilium Belli is a Council set up by the Curia to manage the Total War side of the Forums.

Overview
The first Council of War oversaw the development of the The Total War half of the TWC forums for a period in 2006. It was abolished in January 2007.

The Consilium Belli (which literally means Council of War) was re-introduced in August 2007, following this vote.

The new Consilium Belli is located here.

A current list of members can be found here.

Comments, suggestions, or questions you have for the Council can be posted in this thread, or pm'd direct to members.

Legislation
The Consilium Belli was established in August, by Article 6, Section 2:<br/>
"A number of members shall be elected to the Consilium Belli to facilitate and improve relations between the modding community, the Curia, the Wiki Officer and the Council itself. The duties of the Consilium Belli shall also include, but are not limited to, overseeing all projects designed to promote the TW sections of TWC to the modding community and the general membership. When necessary, reports shall be submitted to the Curia by the Speaker of the House.

A forum shall be set up within the TW Modding Community publicly viewable and accessible by all, but posting and voting rights will be restricted to members of the CB.

All members of the Council, the Wiki Officer, and the Modding Registrar shall have permanent membership of the Consilium. Other members are selected with either of the following processes.

Application threads will be opened in the TW and Modding community forums and the Curia. Applicants are free to state any information or experience they wish; the applications will then be reviewed by the Council, which will select a varying number of members at least 50% larger than they wish elected and submit these for election, the vote thread to be placed in the TW Modding Community forum, with announcements in the Curia and the TW and Modding community forums.

The CB will also have the option to submit any member of TWC to the Council for consideration as a complimentary member of the Council of War. Any member of TWC may submit themselves to the administration should they wish to contribute in a specific area.
