This page is intended to be a comprehensive listing of all released Modifications for games in the [[Total War]] Series where information can be accessed in a clear and organized format. Please note that mod variants and sub-mods are generally not included here but should be available via the mod's forum if it is hosted.

In order for this page to achieve that standard of excellence, help is needed from all mod creators and fans to constantly keep this article up to date as mods are released and become hosted. If a mod is not listed here then please either add it yourself, or contact a member of the Wiki Team.

Mods are normally made for a specific platform such as "BI 1.6"(where BI is the abbreviated game/expansion name, and 1.6 is the version of the official patch) but may also be compatible with other platforms. Please check the relevant forum/thread to see if a mod works on multiple platforms or has another version available for a different platform. Those known to have more than one official platform are indicated by the (*) after the name in the tables below; those listed with another specific platform in place of the asterisk indicate that the same official build can run off of more than one .exe.

A short description of the geographical area the campaign map covers. For larger maps, this is the continent on which the mod focuses the most, unless a different short description is offered by the mod team.

=== Era ===

The era in which the mod takes place. This is a general term such as Antiquity, Medieval, Gunpowder, Modern, etc. used to describe the time in which the mod takes place. Where terms such as "Roman Republic to Empire" are used, this does not always necessarily mean the mod is Rome-centric, just that it is during the parallel time-frame.

This is a link to the relevant section of the mod's forum/thread, where a download link has been provided. This link is provided to the newest known released version, but it may be out of date. For patches to all versions and the definitive latest version, as well as technical support and installation instructions, it is recommended you visit the official forums or thread for the Mod, or in the absence of such contact the developers in whatever way they have specified.

Total War Center (TWC) provides the services to you, the visitor, based on its Terms of Service (TOS) outlined here. When using the services provided by TWC, you are subject to these posted terms. Usage of the services on this site indicates acceptance of these terms. The TOS may be changed at any time and without direct notice to individual visitors, so it is recommended that you check back with this page whenever you have questions or concerns.

===Registration Requirements===
In order to view messages on the TWC message boards without user restrictions, no registration is required or necessary. In order to post messages on the boards, and use other advanced services, you must register with TWCenter. Provision of a valid e-mail address is recommended to permit recovery of your account should you forget your password, but it is not currently required.

TWCenter does not require you to use your real name or other identification that can be easily traced to you, and the e-mail address you provide will be kept private. In order to register on TWCenter, registrants must be 13 years of age or older. TWC does not knowingly collect any information from any users under 13 years, and if it is found that an underage user has fraudulently registered, their account will immediately be terminated.

===Privacy and Release of Information===
TWC is a non-commercial site staffed by volunteers, and cannot provide a binding guarantee of privacy to its members (except as required by law). However, we try to protect our members' privacy as far as is reasonable.

Visiting any website will expose your IP address to that website. We may store members' IP addresses indefinitely for record-keeping purposes. We may also use services such as advertisements and analytics scripts to fund the operation of the site, let us run it more effectively, or for any other reason. Visitors' IP addresses may be exposed to the providers of those services to allow them to function, and we have no control over how this information is used.

As is customary on web forums, we permit members to hotlink images and other media from other websites, for convenience and to reduce our bandwidth costs. Posts clearly insulting other board members, individually or as a group, directly or indirectly, are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:

* Offensive orders ("Go kill yourself", "Shut up")
* Using threatening, harassing, defamatory, hate-speech, or libelous language

Instead, members should criticize the post, not the poster. SEGA, the Creative Assembly, and related bodies are considered board members for this purpose, since some of them are. You can still criticize their games without insulting them personally.

====Obscene Content (1, 3, 6, or 12 points)====
Obscene content is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:

Providing images or videos of nudity. Nudity includes:

* Any figure whose genitals, pubic hair, buttocks, or (if female) nipples or areolas are exposed, partially or totally; or are not exposed, but it's clear that this is only because of the angle of the shot or incidental intervening objects (e.g., hands, hair, bits of cloth).
* Visible outlines of genitals or female nipples through clothing.
* Anything that falls narrowly outside the previous provisions, at the discretion of the moderators.

This applies to photographs, drawings, or any other representation of humanoid figures. It may also apply to non-humanoid figures such as animals, at the discretion of the moderators. Nudity may be permitted for serious and non-titillating purposes, such as the exhibition of recognized art or historical models in modifications, at the discretion of the moderators.
* Providing image, video, or audio files that represent or hint at sexual intercourse, foreplay, masturbation, etc.
* Verbally describing genitals, sex acts, masturbation, or similarly inappropriate content. This does not include passing references, but includes descriptions that are graphic or include any details.
* Providing images, videos, or verbal descriptions of an unreasonably disgusting nature. This includes, but is not limited to: excrement, real-world violence, and extreme virtual or imagined violence.

Links may not be posted for the purpose of providing obscene content. If a website incidentally includes some reasonably obscene content, it's acceptable to link to it for some other purpose as long as a clear warning is given. Similarly, if content incidentally includes some reasonably obscene content, it's acceptable to include it in a post for some other purpose, as long as a clear warning is given and the reader must actively click a button to view it (e.g., spoiler boxes or YouTube videos).

Unacceptable uses would include entire songs, long videos, large collections of images, altered game executables, pirated operating systems, unmodified game files (except those released by the developers themselves, for example converted .bin files released by CA for M2TW) that are not essential parts of modifications or anything that competes with the work you're copying (i.e., people might just download your copy instead of buying the original). The exact threshold of substantial use will be decided on a case-by-case basis ― if in doubt, ask a Senior Moderator or Administrator.
* Obtaining or providing ways to circumvent copy protection. This includes no-CD hacks, key generators, hacked ROMs, etc.
* Cheating in online games, or otherwise violating license agreements.
* Possessing, distributing, or using drugs in a way that would be illegal in most jurisdictions (e.g., owning marijuana).

"Promoting" illegal activity includes, but is not limited to:

* Asking for someone else to commit an illegal activity (e.g., asking for a cracked game).
* Assisting someone else in an illegal activity (e.g., linking to a site that distributes cracked games).
* Encouraging or advocating an illegal activity, or portraying it as normal or acceptable (e.g., casually mentioning that you have pirated games/smoked pot/etc. as though this were normal and acceptable). Exceptions will be made for threads that are devoted to serious discussion of illegal activities in an abstract sense (e.g., about whether copyright law should be relaxed or marijuana should be legalized), on a case-by-case basis.

What exactly qualifies as illegal depends on jurisdiction. When jurisdictions differ on whether something is legal, moderators will decide on a case-by-case basis which jurisdiction to follow.

===Terms Violations===
Infractions of the terms of service are tracked using the infraction system, which allows moderators to record incidents in a reliable and centralized fashion. All such records of infractions are viewable in the user's profile to moderating staff and the user in question, but no one else.

====Note====
Notes are given when the actions of a member require staff to officially contact them. They are simply a record of that contact and do not contribute toward a member's warning level. They are recorded both to let other moderators know that the user has been informed of the particular rule, and to give the user a record of all contacts with moderators they have had.

====Warning====
Warnings are given when a member commits an offense (other than a very mild one) when the member should already know the rule in question, such as if a moderator has previously discussed that type of offense with them. Warnings expire after three months and contribute toward a member's warning level. How many levels an offense is worth can be found in the Member Conduct section in (parentheses). Whether to give the first or second number, if applicable, is up to moderator discretion.

* If a user violates the terms of their probation, it results in a suspension, from one day to a month or more.
* Subsequent suspensions during a probation period may increase in length.

To discourage joining/posting simply to spam signature links all signatures are currently disabled for new users. Once you have 25 posts and have been a member for a week you will be able to create a signature.

Signatures are bound to a 550×175 pixel box automatically, with anything outside of that being cut off. The maximum file size of all signature images may not exceed 250 KB according to the current [[TWC Official:Terms of Service|TOS]].

Custom avatars, signatures and user pictures must be uploaded to TWC from [http://www.twcenter.net/forums/usercp.php your User Control Panel]. You will be told the maximum size of each when you try to upload them. At the time of this writing, the maximum sizes are 100×100 pixels or 80 KB (whichever is smaller) for avatars, and 640×480 pixels or 250 KB (whichever is smaller) for profile pictures.

;How do I make polls?
:To vote in polls you have to have 25 posts and been registered for at least one week. You can only make a poll if you are starting a new topic. What you need to click to add a poll to your post is the 'Yes, post a poll...' box near the bottom of the screen. If you need to add a poll later then you need to PM an Administrator.

;What's the "Report" button?
:http://www.twcenter.net/forums/images_medieval/buttons/report.gif button at the bottom right of each post will generate an automatic email to all the moderators of that forum telling that that post has been reported. You can use it to tell the moderators every time you see a post that breaks the Terms of Service. While it is not our aim to create a generation of informants, experience has proven time and again that reporting a post that you consider offensive or disruptive is far better then attempting to deal with it "on your own", by either attacking the poster or threatening with some form of action in the thread. Furthermore, a report is the fastest way to alert the moderators about serious breaches of ToS as posting of porn and also to get yourself rid of ad-bots. Reporting posts is encouraged!

;I've just taken a glance at the Political Mudpit and the Ethos, Mores, et Monastica sections of the Common Community, and I want to post there! But I do not want to get completely butchered by the experienced members who already post in those sections. How can I, a complete newb, post in those sections without getting hacked into little pieces?
:I can offer four pieces of advice for this: read, edit, give sources, and stay calm.
:# Read - What you first need to do is read the entire thread. This is important as it can give you sources for information (which are very important for a debate) and tells you what has already been argued about. Unless you are bringing new information regarding a past issue or point, it is redundant to dredge up an old settled argument, especially if it has been some time since it was last talked about in the thread.
:# Edit - After you have written your response, always send it through a spellchecker after reading it over again yourself. It is imperative to ensure that there are as few as possible spelling and grammatical errors in your post.
:# Give Sources - A credible source can go a long way in helping you win a debate. Facts without sources will be often disregarded as mere opinion.
:# Stay Calm - Far too often, members become frustrated and angry on various threads. This happens to all at times, and the best cure is to step away from the debate. What you do after that is up to you, but do not go back to the debate until you have calmed down. If a debate looks like it is getting too heated, a moderator will often close down a thread temporarily to clean up heated posts, as well as giving both parties a chance to calm down.

;How would I defend myself against flamers and trolls?
:Hopefully you won't have to! But if someone does flame you or troll you, report their post using the Report button. DON'T respond in kind. If you flame someone who flames you, that just starts a flame war and you'll find yourself in as much trouble as the original flamer (provoker).

;What if I want to express my opinion about certain members and I want to contact them individually?
:Try emailing them if they enabled their email address, or use the "private messaging" - PM. Be careful though, members do (and should) report harassing or annoying PMs to moderators. Just because it is a private message, it does not give you leeway to flame or troll others.

;Can I vote in polls?

#Firstly, click on the 'My Account' button on the top left hand side of your screen (if you can't see it then scroll to the top of the forums).

==The Constitution and the Curia==
If you've got this far, you've probably realised TWC isn't like any other major forum you've been a part of. The Constitution is a big reason why. About 4 years ago when TWC was small and cosy, the 3 administrators of the time felt that it would be good to reward their core body of active members. The reward they gave this core group was the ability to have a say on how the site is run not that a normal member is not allowed to or can't propose something constructive for the site's benefit in the Q&S forums. The Constitution is the document that sets out how it all works.

Citizenship is awarded to members who make noteworthy contributions to the forum. These can include, but are not limited to:

* Creating After Action Reports (AARs) on battles fought in the various Total War games.
* Creating a mod, or working as part of a mod team for the Total War games.
* Serving as a member of the TWC staff (Content Writer, Librarian, Content Artist, Wiki writer etc.)
* Showing your dedication to the site by making consistent intelligent posts around the forum.

Additionally, there are two types of Citizen:
* A Civitate is a Citizen whose primary contribution has been in debates and discussions.
* An Artifex is a Citizen whose primary contribution has been modding work.

All the moderators on the site are drawn from the citizen class as well. To find out how to become a citizen, read on below!

The Curia has a number of institutions which help to oversee the citizen class, or run the site. One of them, the Tribunal, has already been mentioned above. Two tribune judges are appointed by site administrators aka Hexagon council and three magistrates are all elected by the Curia by curial voting.

The Curator which is appointed by voting by citizens is the overseer of the entire curia and moderates the entire [http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12 CVRIA] forum.

===The Consilium de Civitate===
This is a body of 12 elected Citizens a.k.a CdeC Councillor who govern promotions and demotions. They vote on whether a member should be promoted from Peregrinus to Citizen, as well as performing other responsibilities listed in the Constitution. If a Citizen has broken the rules, they may also vote to suspend or strip him of his rank. The CdeC maintain a thread in the Curia giving updates on who the current members are and what they've been doing. :The Curator deals with the day to day running of the Curia. He moves debates to vote, orders the archives, maintains order in the Curia, and also makes rulings on the interpretation of the constitution where necessary. The Curator also holds power of Veto over any Curial decision. The Curator can make grammatical and spelling changes to the constitution without consultation with the Citizenry. He holds his term for 3 months.

A Curial Committee can be convened by the Council to discuss or investigate a particular issue. ==How to become a Citizen==
So, after reading all that, has it caught your interest? Do you want to get involved in running this site? Do you want to have your say on how we do things here? Then here's how.

To become a citizen of TWC you first have to meet the qualifications. These are set pretty low and it's not a case of everyone who meets these gets the rank automatically. To qualify for Citizen, a member must have at least fifty posts, been a registered member for two months, and have no warnings within the last six months. Non-point infractions or 'notes' are not factored into this.

Above and beyond these basic standards, the rank is then awarded for contributions. So if you think you make a valuable contribution to the site, chances are you're citizen material.

To get promoted you have to be patronised by an existing citizen. There are two ways this can happen. The most common is for a citizen to notice your contributions and send you a PM asking if you'd like the rank. If however, you think you are worthy, you don't have to wait to be noticed! You can PM a citizen directly and ask if they will sponsor you. Only those citizens who have themselves held their rank for 3 months can patronise.

If you get asked, or a citizen agrees to patronise you, you then have to write a short paragraph explaining why you want to be a citizen and why you think you are worthy. Keep in mind that the better you present your case to the CdeC, the more likely you will be considered citizen material. Include links to your most worthy contributions, be they modifications tools or work, or well-composed debates. PM the paragraph to your patron; they'll add their own comments and PM both to a member of the Consilium de Civitate. The CdeC will then take a week to discuss and vote on you. If you get 60% of the non abstaining votes, you'll receive a PM from the Curator congratulating you, and have your rank, a shiny new badge, and all the privileges of being recognised as one of TWC's outstanding members!

If, for whatever reason, you should fail the vote you must wait 1 month before you can apply again

==Member Ranks==
While not everyone has a fancy officer's title, everyone on TWC has a rank. Officers, be they Staff or Curial, are the people who carry out various jobs, but each of them, along with everyone else will hold a rank as well. The higher your rank, the more privileges and access you have and the greater your opportunities for promotion to an officer position. There are two broad types of ranks, Honorary and Normal. The three Normal ranks carry all the benefits of a Citizen; the four Honorary ones are used as rewards for specific services rendered or for achievement.

===Normal Ranks===
The three Normal Ranks are as follows:

;Peregrinus
:This is the basic rank that everyone starts out on and many thousands of our members never achieve greater than this. Peregrinus grants posting rights in almost all of the forum and they have the opportunity to hold content and technical staff positions.

;Local Forum Moderator
:A Local Forum Moderator (or Local Moderator, Local Mod, or simply LM) is a normal member with Moderating powers inside a specific forum. They are usually devoted to this forum and its community. They are not counted as TWC staff.
:They may do all normal moderating procedures within that forum, though may not infract (that is ban or suspend) users. Should a certain member break the ToS within that forum they should be reported as done all rule breakers.
:A Local Mod is identified with a grey coloured name rather than the user black coloured name, and they may change their user-title. The Local Moderator title is inherited via Admin. Should you wish to become a Local Moderator of a certain forum you should get in contact with a moderator of that forum.

;Citizen

:This special rank is given as a reward by the CdeC to those members who make a significant contribution to the Forum. It carries all the benefits of Peregrinus but additionally it grants members posting ability in Symposium and the Curia, as well as voting rights. Citizens are therefore given the opportunity to have a say in how their site is run. After 3 months in the rank, Citizens can also begin patronising new citizens. Only Citizens and above can become a member of the moderating staff. Additionally, most Curial Offices have the requirement of Citizen rank.

The Awarding of Normal Ranks is the job of the CdeC who may, if they feel it necessary, strip members of them. Requirements for the ranks are governed by the Curia.

It's possible for a member to hold multiple ranks or Officer Positions, and as such they will usually, but not always follow this precedent in choosing which rank to display. Administrators, Senior Content Staff and Moderators will normally always display that rank over all others for quick identification.

The current and only holder of this title is [[imb39]].
The story of this and the reason why he has chosen this title is from the famous novel "I, Claudias" (I, CLAVDIVS). Claudius became emperor because he was regarded as so weak and ineffectual by competing factions and as other parts of his family killed themselves. imb39 sees that he reached the top because he was viewed as harmless. He referred to himself as Claudius at times - though he doesn't claim to have any of his abilities!

One of the lines in the book is "a god in Colchester" so, [[Garbarsardar]] and a few other Administators gave him this title. Though technically, it should not exist or be allowed as it has not been passed by the [[Curia]], though nobody has yet objected against him/it.

:;Stalker

The current and only holder of this title is [[Garbarsardar]]. After Garbarsardar officially told site moderators that he's no longer the site owner and that he will be stepping down as hex as well, the entire moderation staff then decided to honour him in this way, for the services and guidance he gave them over the years. Ishan was the one that came up with the idea and later on pannonian and him worked on an oriental themed badge since he lives in Asia & some funny stories are attached to it. But later on jimkatalanos came up with this, which represents Garb's favourite director [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrei_Tarkovsky Andrei Tarkovsky] & movie [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalker_(1979_film) Stalker]. Garb's stalking skills are renowned on TWC, he always knew about all the shenanigans and was aware of every drama and constructive activities going on TWC.

==Post Count Ranks==
On the left hand side of each of your posts you'll note a number of things. First, your avatar, which you can set and change from your account control panel. Second, your Reputation, explained below. Third, your online status and add rep buttons. Fourth, your post count, and finally another rank.

Unlike your Peregrinus rank, this one is entirely meaningless and conveys nothing. It's merely associated with your Post Count. The more posts you have, the higher this rank. It's actually your custom user title, and only Citizens, Local Moderators or TWC Staff have the ability to override their title with one of their own design.

==Reputation==

The reputation feature is a fun little thing that enables you to see your community standing with the other members. In theory, the more reputation you have, the more highly thought of you are by the other members of the community. It has no other real meaning, and many members choose to disable it.

Reputation here will be described as if you were using the default Empire skin. The symbols are different on the Rome skin, or the Barbie skin.

If you are using the Rome skin, the add rep button is an eagle standard, a Ring is a helmet, and a crown is a legionary standard. The principle is the same however

If, (for whatever unknown reason!) you are using the Barbie skin, the add rep button is the eagle standard again, a ring becomes a type of spangly star, or maybe a flower and a crown is a diamond ring.

;How do I give rep?
:You can add reputation to a post by clicking this button, on the left

:You can only add 1 point of rep to each post and you can only give 7 points total a day. Additionally, you have to rep different users before you can give rep to the same user again, in order to prevent rep abuse.

;Who can give rep?
:Because of issues with account cloning in the past, where people created accounts just to give themselves rep, only users registered for at least two weeks with over 50 posts may give rep that counts. Users with less than 50 posts or who have been registered for less than two weeks will give a 0 rep point instead of 1, so any comments they leave will show up in your account, but you won't actually get a point for it. Please note, when a user jumps over the 50-post mark, rep they have given prior to that does not count retroactively. Furthermore, it may take an hour or so after your 50th post for your rep to start working, even if you've been registered for over two weeks by that point.

;How to know which member gave me rep?
:Generally people also mention their username along with the rep comment, if they have not mentioned then it's an anonymous rep and thus can't be known. However if you have been insulted via rep feature then contact any moderator or an administrator as they have the access to view it & will remove the insult & take care of the offender as per TWC's terms of service.

;Where does reputation show?
:Your reputation shows up in two places. One, on the left hand side where you post, a collection of symbols shows a rough guide to how much rep you have. Two, in your control panel. There's a more comprehensive display of the last 20 rep points you received, showing which post you got it for, who gave it, and any comment they left.

;Can I disable reputation?
:Yes, you can disable your reputation in your control panel. If you do so, your own rep won't show up but you'll still be able to give other people rep as well as receive it yourself.

;What does it look like?
:Each symbol represents a certain number of rep points. It starts at five, so if you have less than 3 rep points, you'll show the scales symbol for neutral rep.

==Deleting your account/suspending yourself==
As a rule, TWC never deletes an account so it is impossible to delete your account. However it is possible to suspend yourself if you no longer have the time for TWC, or just need to take a break. Total War Center (TWC) provides the services to you, the visitor, based on its Terms of Service (TOS) outlined here. When using the services provided by TWC, you are subject to these posted terms. ===Registration Requirements===
In order to view messages on the TWC message boards without user restrictions, no registration is required or necessary. In order to post messages on the boards, and use other advanced services, you must register with TWCenter. Provision of a valid e-mail address is recommended to permit recovery of your account should you forget your password, but it is not currently required.

TWCenter does not require you to use your real name or other identification that can be easily traced to you, and the e-mail address you provide will be kept private. In order to register on TWCenter, registrants must be 13 years of age or older. Some information (for instance, e-mail address) is deliberately submitted by members and is not publicly viewable. This information may be kept indefinitely, but will not normally be given out to third parties or posted publicly. Sending e-mail using the forum or wiki might reveal the sender's e-mail address to the recipient.

TWC does not normally send unsolicited bulk e-mail. Automated or bulk e-mails are normally sent only to members who have opted in to thread subscriptions or other features. * Using threatening, harassing, defamatory, hate-speech, or libelous language
* Using race, religion, sexual orientation, culture, ethnicity, handicap, nationality, or gender as a means of insult, either directly or implied
* Insinuations ("Are you stupid or something?") or insults towards family ("Your mom...")

Instead, members should criticize the post, not the poster. SEGA, the Creative Assembly, and related bodies are considered board members for this purpose, since some of them are. You can still criticize their games without insulting them personally.

====Obscene Content (1, 3, 6, or 12 points)====
Obscene content is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:

Providing images or videos of nudity. Nudity includes:

* Any figure whose genitals, pubic hair, buttocks, or (if female) nipples or areolas are exposed, partially or totally; or are not exposed, but it's clear that this is only because of the angle of the shot or incidental intervening objects (e.g., hands, hair, bits of cloth).
* Visible outlines of genitals or female nipples through clothing.
* Anything that falls narrowly outside the previous provisions, at the discretion of the moderators.

This applies to photographs, drawings, or any other representation of humanoid figures. It may also apply to non-humanoid figures such as animals, at the discretion of the moderators. Nudity may be permitted for serious and non-titillating purposes, such as the exhibition of recognized art or historical models in modifications, at the discretion of the moderators.
* Providing image, video, or audio files that represent or hint at sexual intercourse, foreplay, masturbation, etc.
* Verbally describing genitals, sex acts, masturbation, or similarly inappropriate content. This does not include passing references, but includes descriptions that are graphic or include any details.
* Providing images, videos, or verbal descriptions of an unreasonably disgusting nature. This includes, but is not limited to: excrement, real-world violence, and extreme virtual or imagined violence.

Links may not be posted for the purpose of providing obscene content. If a website incidentally includes some reasonably obscene content, it's acceptable to link to it for some other purpose as long as a clear warning is given. Similarly, if content incidentally includes some reasonably obscene content, it's acceptable to include it in a post for some other purpose, as long as a clear warning is given and the reader must actively click a button to view it (e.g., spoiler boxes or YouTube videos).

Excessively obscene content is still not allowed to be posted or linked to in any fashion. The distinction between moderate and excessive obscenity is at the discretion of the moderators. As always, if you aren't sure, ask a moderator.

Moderators may use discretion in enforcing this against impersonations that are clearly not serious and so unlikely to fool anyone.

====Promoting Illegal Activities (1, 4, or 8 points)====
Posts that promote violation of the law are not allowed. Violation of the law includes, but is not limited to:

* Substantial use of copyrighted material without permission. Examples of acceptable uses would be brief quotes, fan art, signature/avatar images, brief video clips (e.g., YouTube), screenshots, or reasonably limited decorative images in a mod. Unacceptable uses would include entire songs, long videos, large collections of images, altered game executables, pirated operating systems, unmodified game files (except those released by the developers themselves, for example converted .bin files released by CA for M2TW) that are not essential parts of modifications or anything that competes with the work you're copying (i.e., people might just download your copy instead of buying the original). The exact threshold of substantial use will be decided on a case-by-case basis ― if in doubt, ask a Senior Moderator or Administrator.
* Obtaining or providing ways to circumvent copy protection. This includes no-CD hacks, key generators, hacked ROMs, etc.
* Cheating in online games, or otherwise violating license agreements.
* Possessing, distributing, or using drugs in a way that would be illegal in most jurisdictions (e.g., owning marijuana).

"Promoting" illegal activity includes, but is not limited to:

* Asking for someone else to commit an illegal activity (e.g., asking for a cracked game).
* Assisting someone else in an illegal activity (e.g., linking to a site that distributes cracked games).
* Encouraging or advocating an illegal activity, or portraying it as normal or acceptable (e.g., casually mentioning that you have pirated games/smoked pot/etc. as though this were normal and acceptable). Exceptions will be made for threads that are devoted to serious discussion of illegal activities in an abstract sense (e.g., about whether copyright law should be relaxed or marijuana should be legalized), on a case-by-case basis.

What exactly qualifies as illegal depends on jurisdiction. When jurisdictions differ on whether something is legal, moderators will decide on a case-by-case basis which jurisdiction to follow.

====Harassment or Invasion of Privacy (1, 4, or 8 points)====
Continual harassing behavior directed towards a certain individual or group with the intent of creating an intimidating, offensive, or hostile environment on the boards, with or without use of explicit or implicit threats is prohibited. Any activity not previously outlined but still deemed detrimental to the operation of the site, normal activities of the board and flow of conversation may be subject to moderation. Infractions of the terms of service are tracked using the infraction system, which allows moderators to record incidents in a reliable and centralized fashion. All such records of infractions are viewable in the user's profile to moderating staff and the user in question, but no one else.

Notes are given when the actions of a member require staff to officially contact them. They are simply a record of that contact and do not contribute toward a member's warning level. They are recorded both to let other moderators know that the user has been informed of the particular rule, and to give the user a record of all contacts with moderators they have had.

====Warning====
Warnings are given when a member commits an offense (other than a very mild one) when the member should already know the rule in question, such as if a moderator has previously discussed that type of offense with them. Warnings expire after three months and contribute toward a member's warning level. How many levels an offense is worth can be found in the Member Conduct section in (parentheses). Whether to give the first or second number, if applicable, is up to moderator discretion.

Warning levels are penalized as follows:

If a user is a repeat offender he may be entered into the probation system, following discussion amongst the Senior Moderators.

====How it works====

* If a user violates the terms of their probation, it results in a suspension, from one day to a month or more.
* Subsequent suspensions during a probation period may increase in length.
* The length of probation period is decided by the Senior Moderators and usually is no shorter than three months; the period restarts at the end of each suspension.
* The user in question is made fully aware of the rules and function of the system.
* A user on probation will receive a "Probation" note, which will be reversed when the users probation expires.

To discourage joining/posting simply to spam signature links all signatures are currently disabled for new users. Once you have 25 posts and have been a member for a week you will be able to create a signature.

Signatures are bound to a 550×175 pixel box automatically, with anything outside of that being cut off. The maximum file size of all signature images may not exceed 250 KB according to the current [[TWC Official:Terms of Service|TOS]].

Custom avatars and user pictures must be uploaded to TWC from [http://www.twcenter.net/forums/usercp.php your User Control Panel]. You will be told the maximum size of each when you try to upload them. At the time of this writing, the maximum sizes are 100×100 pixels or 80 KB (whichever is smaller) for avatars, and 640×480 pixels or 250 KB (whichever is smaller) for profile pictures.

;How do I make polls?
:To vote in polls you have to have 25 posts and been registered for at least one week. You can only make a poll if you are starting a new topic. What you need to click to add a poll to your post is the 'Yes, post a poll...' box near the bottom of the screen. If you need to add a poll later then you need to PM an Administrator.

;What's the "Report" button?
:This red button at the bottom right of each post will generate an automatic email to all the moderators of that forum telling that that post has been reported. You can use it to tell the moderators every time you see a post that breaks the Terms of Service. While it is not our aim to create a generation of informants, experience has proven time and again that reporting a post that you consider offensive or disruptive is far better then attempting to deal with it "on your own", by either attacking the poster or threatening with some form of action in the thread. Furthermore, a report is the fastest way to alert the moderators about serious breaches of ToS as posting of porn and also to get yourself rid of ad-bots. Reporting posts is encouraged!

;I've just taken a glance at the Political Mudpit and the Ethos, Mores, et Monastica sections of the Common Community, and I want to post there! But I do not want to get completely butchered by the experienced members who already post in those sections. How can I, a complete newb, post in those sections without getting hacked into little pieces?
:I can offer four pieces of advice for this: read, edit, give sources, and stay calm.
:# Read - What you first need to do is read the entire thread. This is important as it can give you sources for information (which are very important for a debate) and tells you what has already been argued about. Unless you are bringing new information regarding a past issue or point, it is redundant to dredge up an old settled argument, especially if it has been some time since it was last talked about in the thread.
:# Edit - After you have written your response, always send it through a spellchecker after reading it over again yourself. It is imperative to ensure that there are as few as possible spelling and grammatical errors in your post.
:# Give Sources - A credible source can go a long way in helping you win a debate. Facts without sources will be often disregarded as mere opinion.
:# Stay Calm - Far too often, members become frustrated and angry on various threads. This happens to all at times, and the best cure is to step away from the debate. What you do after that is up to you, but do not go back to the debate until you have calmed down. If a debate looks like it is getting too heated, a moderator will often close down a thread temporarily to clean up heated posts, as well as giving both parties a chance to calm down.

;How would I defend myself against flamers and trolls?
:Hopefully you won't have to! But if someone does flame you or troll you, report their post using the Report button. DON'T respond in kind. If you flame someone who flames you, that just starts a flame war and you'll find yourself in as much trouble as the original flamer.

;What if I want to express my opinion about certain members and I want to contact them individually?
:Try emailing them if they enabled their email address, or use the "private messaging" - PM. Be careful though, members do (and should) report harassing or annoying PMs to moderators. Just because it is a private message, it does not give you leeway to flame or troll others.

==The Constitution and the Curia==
If you've got this far, you've probably realised TWC isn't like any other major forum you've been a part of. The Constitution is a big reason why. About 4 years ago when TWC was small and cosy, the 3 administrators of the time felt that it would be good to reward their core body of active members. The reward they gave this core group was the ability to have a say on how the site is run. The Constitution is the document that sets out how it all works.

Citizenship is awarded to members who make noteworthy contributions to the forum. These can include, but are not limited to:

* Creating After Action Reports (AARs) on battles fought in the various Total War games.
* Creating a mod, or working as part of a mod team for the Total War games.
* Serving as a member of the TWC staff (Content Writer, Librarian, Graphic Artist (Badger/Rep Icon Maker) etc.)
* Showing your dedication to the site by making consistent intelligent posts around the forum.

Additionally, there are two types of Citizen. A Civitate is a Citizen whose primary contribution has been in debates and discussions. An Artifex is a Citizen whose primary contribution has been modding work. All the moderators on the site are drawn from the citizen class as well. To find out how to become a citizen, read on below!

The Curia has a number of institutions which help to oversee the citizen class, or run the site. One of them, the Tribunal, has already been mentioned above. The three Tribunal judges are all elected by the Curia.

===The Consilium de Civitate===
This is a body of 12 elected Citizens who govern promotions and demotions. They vote on whether a member should be promoted from Peregrinus to Citizen, as well as performing other responsibilities listed in the Constitution. If a Citizen has broken the rules, they may also vote to suspend or strip him of his rank. :The Curator deals with the day to day running of the Curia. He moves debates to vote, orders the archives, maintains order in the Curia, and also makes rulings on the interpretation of the constitution where necessary. A Curial Committee can be convened by the Council to discuss or investigate a particular issue. ==How to become a Citizen==
So, after reading all that, has it caught your interest? Do you want to get involved in running this site? Do you want to have your say on how we do things here? Then here's how.

To become a citizen of TWC you first have to meet the qualifications. These are set pretty low and it's not a case of everyone who meets these gets the rank automatically. To qualify for Citizen, a member must have at least fifty posts, been a registered member for one month, and have no warnings within the last six months. Non-point infractions or 'notes' are not factored into this.

Above and beyond these basic standards, the rank is then awarded for contributions. So if you think you make a valuable contribution to the site, chances are you're citizen material.

To get promoted you have to be patronised by an existing citizen. There are two ways this can happen. The most common is for a citizen to notice your contributions and send you a PM asking if you'd like the rank. If however, you think you are worthy, you don't have to wait to be noticed! You can PM a citizen directly and ask if they will sponsor you. Only those citizens who have themselves held their rank for 3 months can patronise.

If you get asked, or a citizen agrees to patronise you, you then have to write a short paragraph explaining why you want to be a citizen and why you think you are worthy. Keep in mind that the better you present your case to the CdeC, the more likely you will be considered citizen material. Include links to your most worthy contributions, be they modifications tools or work, or well-composed debates. PM the paragraph to your patron; they'll add their own comments and PM both to a member of the Consilium de Civitate. The CdeC will then take a week to discuss and vote on you. If you get 60% of the non abstaining votes, you'll receive a PM from the Curator congratulating you, and have your rank, a shiny new badge, and all the privileges of being recognised as one of TWC's outstanding members!

If, for whatever reason, you should fail the vote you must wait 1 month before you can apply again

==Member Ranks==
While not everyone has a fancy officer's title, everyone on TWC has a rank. Officers, be they Staff or Curial, are the people who carry out various jobs, but each of them, along with everyone else will hold a rank as well. The higher your rank, the more privileges and access you have and the greater your opportunities for promotion to an officer position. There are two broad types of ranks, Honorary and Normal. The three Normal ranks carry all the benefits of a Citizen; the four Honorary ones are used as rewards for specific services rendered or for achievement.

The three Normal Ranks are as follows:

;Peregrinus
:This is the basic rank that everyone starts out on and many thousands of our members never achieve greater than this. Peregrinus grants posting rights in almost all of the forum and they have the opportunity to hold content and technical staff positions.

;Local Forum Moderator
:A Local Forum Moderator (or Local Moderator, Local Mod, or simply LM) is a normal member with Moderating powers inside a specific forum. They are usually devoted to this forum and its community. They are not counted as TWC staff.
:They may do all normal moderating procedures within that forum, though may not infract (that is ban or suspend) users. Should a certain member break the ToS within that forum they should be reported as done all rule breakers.
:A Local Mod is identified with a grey coloured name rather than the user black coloured name, and they may change their user-title. The Local Moderator title is inherited via Admin. Should you wish to become a Local Moderator of a certain forum you should get in contact with a moderator of that forum.

;Citizen

:This special rank is given as a reward by the CdeC to those members who make a significant contribution to the Forum. ;A god in Colchester

The current and only holder of this title is [[imb39]].
The story of this and the reason why he has chosen this title is from the famous novel "I, Claudias" (I, CLAVDIVS). Claudius became emperor because he was regarded as so weak and ineffectual by competing factions and as other parts of his family killed themselves. imb39 sees that he reached the top because he was viewed as harmless. He referred to himself as Claudius at times - though he doesn't claim to have any of his abilities!

One of the lines in the book is "a god in Colchester" so, [[Garbarsardar]] and a few other Administators gave him this title. Though technically, it should not exist or be allowed as it has not been passed by the [[Curia]], though nobody has yet objected against him/it.

==Post Count Ranks==
On the left hand side of each of your posts you'll note a number of things. First, your avatar, which you can set and change from your account control panel. Second, your Reputation, explained below. Third, your online status and add rep buttons. Fourth, your post count, and finally another rank.

Unlike your Peregrinus rank, this one is entirely meaningless and conveys nothing. It's merely associated with your Post Count. The more posts you have, the higher this rank. It's actually your custom user title, and only Citizens, Local Moderators or TWC Staff have the ability to override their title with one of their own design.

==Reputation==

The reputation feature is a fun little thing that enables you to see your community standing with the other members. In theory, the more reputation you have, the more highly thought of you are by the other members of the community. It has no other real meaning, and many members choose to disable it.

Reputation here will be described as if you were using the default Empire skin. The symbols are different on the Rome skin, or the Barbie skin.

If you are using the Rome skin, the add rep button is an eagle standard, a Ring is a helmet, and a crown is a legionary standard. The principle is the same however

If, (for whatever unknown reason!) you are using the Barbie skin, the add rep button is the eagle standard again, a ring becomes a type of spangly star, or maybe a flower and a crown is a diamond ring.

;How do I give rep?
:You can add reputation to a post by clicking this button, on the left

:You can only add 1 point of rep to each post and you can only give 7 points total a day. Additionally, you have to rep different users before you can give rep to the same user again, in order to prevent rep abuse.

;Who can give rep?
:Because of issues with account cloning in the past, where people created accounts just to give themselves rep, only users registered for at least two weeks with over 50 posts may give rep that counts. Users with less than 50 posts or who have been registered for less than two weeks will give a 0 rep point instead of 1, so any comments they leave will show up in your account, but you won't actually get a point for it. Please note, when a user jumps over the 50-post mark, rep they have given prior to that does not count retroactively. Furthermore, it may take an hour or so after your 50th post for your rep to start working, even if you've been registered for over two weeks by that point.

;Where does reputation show?
:Your reputation shows up in two places. One, on the left hand side where you post, a collection of symbols shows a rough guide to how much rep you have. Two, in your control panel. There's a more comprehensive display of the last 20 rep points you received, showing which post you got it for, who gave it, and any comment they left.

;Can I disable reputation?
:Yes, you can disable your reputation in your control panel. If you do so, your own rep won't show up but you'll still be able to give other people rep as well as receive it yourself.

;What does it look like?
:Each symbol represents a certain number of rep points. It starts at five, so if you have less than 3 rep points, you'll show the scales symbol for neutral rep.

To discourage joining/posting simply to spam signature links all signatures are currently disabled for new users. Once you have 25 posts and have been a member for a week you will be able to create a signature.

Signatures are bound to a 550×175 pixel box automatically, with anything outside of that being cut off. The maximum file size of all signature images may not exceed 250 KB according to the current [[TWC Official:Terms of Service|TOS]].

Custom avatars and user pictures must be uploaded to TWC from [http://www.twcenter.net/forums/usercp.php your User Control Panel]. You will be told the maximum size of each when you try to upload them. At the time of this writing, the maximum sizes are 100×100 pixels or 80 KB (whichever is smaller) for avatars, and 640×480 pixels or 250 KB (whichever is smaller) for profile pictures.

;How do I make polls?
:To vote in polls you have to have 25 posts and been registered for at least one week. You can only make a poll if you are starting a new topic. What you need to click to add a poll to your post is the 'Yes, post a poll...' box near the bottom of the screen. If you need to add a poll later then you need to PM an Administrator.

;What's the "Report" button?
:This red button at the bottom right of each post will generate an automatic email to all the moderators of that forum telling that that post has been reported. You can use it to tell the moderators every time you see a post that breaks the Terms of Service. While it is not our aim to create a generation of informants, experience has proven time and again that reporting a post that you consider offensive or disruptive is far better then attempting to deal with it "on your own", by either attacking the poster or threatening with some form of action in the thread. Furthermore, a report is the fastest way to alert the moderators about serious breaches of ToS as posting of porn and also to get yourself rid of ad-bots. Reporting posts is encouraged!

==The Constitution and the Curia==
If you've got this far, you've probably realised TWC isn't like any other major forum you've been a part of. The Constitution is a big reason why. About 4 years ago when TWC was small and cosy, the 3 administrators of the time felt that it would be good to reward their core body of active members. The reward they gave this core group was the ability to have a say on how the site is run. The Constitution is the document that sets out how it all works.

Citizenship is awarded to members who make noteworthy contributions to the forum. These can include, but are not limited to:

* Creating After Action Reports (AARs) on battles fought in the various Total War games.
* Creating a mod, or working as part of a mod team for the Total War games.
* Serving as a member of the TWC staff (Content Writer, Librarian, Graphic Artist (Badger/Rep Icon Maker) etc.)
* Showing your dedication to the site by making consistent intelligent posts around the forum.

Additionally, there are two types of Citizen. A Civitate is a Citizen whose primary contribution has been in debates and discussions. An Artifex is a Citizen whose primary contribution has been modding work. All the moderators on the site are drawn from the citizen class as well. To find out how to become a citizen, read on below!

The Curia has a number of institutions which help to oversee the citizen class, or run the site. One of them, the Tribunal, has already been mentioned above. The three Tribunal judges are all elected by the Curia.

===The Consilium de Civitate===
This is a body of 12 elected Citizens who govern promotions and demotions. They vote on whether a member should be promoted from Peregrinus to Citizen, as well as performing other responsibilities listed in the Constitution. ==How to become a Citizen==
So, after reading all that, has it caught your interest? Do you want to get involved in running this site? Do you want to have your say on how we do things here? Then here's how.

To become a citizen of TWC you first have to meet the qualifications. These are set pretty low and it's not a case of everyone who meets these gets the rank automatically. To qualify for Citizen, a member must have at least fifty posts, been a registered member for one month, and have no warnings within the last six months. Non-point infractions or 'notes' are not factored into this.

Above and beyond these basic standards, the rank is then awarded for contributions. So if you think you make a valuable contribution to the site, chances are you're citizen material.

To get promoted you have to be patronised by an existing citizen. There are two ways this can happen. The most common is for a citizen to notice your contributions and send you a PM asking if you'd like the rank. If however, you think you are worthy, you don't have to wait to be noticed! You can PM a citizen directly and ask if they will sponsor you. Only those citizens who have themselves held their rank for 3 months can patronise.

If you get asked, or a citizen agrees to patronise you, you then have to write a short paragraph explaining why you want to be a citizen and why you think you are worthy. Keep in mind that the better you present your case to the CdeC, the more likely you will be considered citizen material. Include links to your most worthy contributions, be they modifications tools or work, or well-composed debates. PM the paragraph to your patron; they'll add their own comments and PM both to a member of the Consilium de Civitate. The CdeC will then take a week to discuss and vote on you. If you get 60% of the non abstaining votes, you'll receive a PM from the Curator congratulating you, and have your rank, a shiny new badge, and all the privileges of being recognised as one of TWC's outstanding members!

If, for whatever reason, you should fail the vote you must wait 1 month before you can apply again

==Member Ranks==
While not everyone has a fancy officer's title, everyone on TWC has a rank. Officers, be they Staff or Curial, are the people who carry out various jobs, but each of them, along with everyone else will hold a rank as well. The higher your rank, the more privileges and access you have and the greater your opportunities for promotion to an officer position. There are two broad types of ranks, Honorary and Normal. The three Normal ranks carry all the benefits of a Citizen; the four Honorary ones are used as rewards for specific services rendered or for achievement.

:This is the basic rank that everyone starts out on and many thousands of our members never achieve greater than this. Peregrinus grants posting rights in almost all of the forum and they have the opportunity to hold content and technical staff positions.

;Local Forum Moderator
:A Local Forum Moderator (or Local Moderator, Local Mod, or simply LM) is a normal member with Moderating powers inside a specific forum. They are usually devoted to this forum and its community. They are not counted as TWC staff.
:They may do all normal moderating procedures within that forum, though may not infract (that is ban or suspend) users. Should a certain member break the ToS within that forum they should be reported as done all rule breakers.
:A Local Mod is identified with a grey coloured name rather than the user black coloured name, and they may change their user-title. The Local Moderator title is inherited via Admin. Should you wish to become a Local Moderator of a certain forum you should get in contact with a moderator of that forum.

;Citizen

:This special rank is given as a reward by the CdeC to those members who make a significant contribution to the Forum. ;A god in Colchester

The current and only holder of this title is [[imb39]].
The story of this and the reason why he has chosen this title is from the famous novel "I, Claudias" (I, CLAVDIVS). Claudius became emperor because he was regarded as so weak and ineffectual by competing factions and as other parts of his family killed themselves. imb39 sees that he reached the top because he was viewed as harmless. He referred to himself as Claudius at times - though he doesn't claim to have any of his abilities!

One of the lines in the book is "a god in Colchester" so, [[Garbarsardar]] and a few other Administators gave him this title. Though technically, it should not exist or be allowed as it has not been passed by the [[Curia]], though nobody has yet objected against him/it.

==Post Count Ranks==
On the left hand side of each of your posts you'll note a number of things. First, your avatar, which you can set and change from your account control panel. Second, your Reputation, explained below. Third, your online status and add rep buttons. Fourth, your post count, and finally another rank.

Unlike your Peregrinus rank, this one is entirely meaningless and conveys nothing. It's merely associated with your Post Count. The more posts you have, the higher this rank. It's actually your custom user title, and only Citizens, Local Moderators or TWC Staff have the ability to override their title with one of their own design.

==Reputation==

The reputation feature is a fun little thing that enables you to see your community standing with the other members. In theory, the more reputation you have, the more highly thought of you are by the other members of the community. It has no other real meaning, and many members choose to disable it.

Reputation here will be described as if you were using the default Empire skin. The symbols are different on the Rome skin, or the Barbie skin.

If you are using the Rome skin, the add rep button is an eagle standard, a Ring is a helmet, and a crown is a legionary standard. The principle is the same however

If, (for whatever unknown reason!) you are using the Barbie skin, the add rep button is the eagle standard again, a ring becomes a type of spangly star, or maybe a flower and a crown is a diamond ring.

;How do I give rep?
:You can add reputation to a post by clicking this button, on the left

:You can only add 1 point of rep to each post and you can only give 7 points total a day. Additionally, you have to rep different users before you can give rep to the same user again, in order to prevent rep abuse.

;Who can give rep?
:Because of issues with account cloning in the past, where people created accounts just to give themselves rep, only users registered for at least two weeks with over 50 posts may give rep that counts. Users with less than 50 posts or who have been registered for less than two weeks will give a 0 rep point instead of 1, so any comments they leave will show up in your account, but you won't actually get a point for it. Please note, when a user jumps over the 50-post mark, rep they have given prior to that does not count retroactively. Furthermore, it may take an hour or so after your 50th post for your rep to start working, even if you've been registered for over two weeks by that point.

;Where does reputation show?
:Your reputation shows up in two places. One, on the left hand side where you post, a collection of symbols shows a rough guide to how much rep you have. Two, in your control panel. There's a more comprehensive display of the last 20 rep points you received, showing which post you got it for, who gave it, and any comment they left.

;Can I disable reputation?
:Yes, you can disable your reputation in your control panel. If you do so, your own rep won't show up but you'll still be able to give other people rep as well as receive it yourself.

== Overview ==
The Consilium de Civitate is a body of 12 [[Citizen]]s and the [[:category:Administrator|Council]] elected by the Curia to oversee the promotion of new citizens, and to carry out disciplinary procedures against citizens that accrue warnings. The Consilium de Civitate was to a large extent founded on the proposals of [[Wild Bill Kelso]] and [[Asterix]] within the [[Curia]]. The task of voting on candidate Citizens was originally left to the [[:category:Administrator|Senior Staff]], but many in early 2006 began to think that a task with such heavy bearing on the Curia should be left to an elected group of Patricians rather than Staff.

Since the first Consilium de Civitate was elected, the body has undergone near constant revision. In particular the number of elected positions, who is eligible to hold a position, and disciplinary proceedings against Citizens acting against forum rules have been amended many times.

The Curia is a forum within the [[Total War Center]] which exists for the purpose of aiding the [[Hexagon Council]] in the running of the forums. The Curia has a long history on the forums and has existed since late 2003.

The Curia has a large say in the running of the forums and is responsible for maintaining the [[TWC_Official:Constitution|Constitution of the TWCenter]]. == Controversy ==

Throughout its existence the Curia has been a controversial subject. Even in its foundation there were those that opposed it, namely [[The Black Prince]]. Many have claimed the Curia is not an effective administrative body, that mob rule simply does not work on a forum, or that the Curia does not have the ability to undertake its goals. Under various Admin's the Curia has struggled to define its place on the site, to what authority it should truly command. Under [[Ogre's Network]] the Curia's existence came up in various arguments, but the most pressing event was just before the sale of the site to [[Imb39]], where the Curia was almost deleted. In recent times the debate over the Curia continues, many have called for reforms, the main proponent of this is [[Professor420]]. Whether the Curia is in fact an effective body, or whether reforms will take place is a matter of debate.

The editing is completely justified under the ethos of what a Wiki is and isn't in any way erroneous. Perhaps you should ask Simetrical to explain the basic workings of a Wiki and how an article should be on its subject, not the article subject talking and ranting about something.

If Prof wants to rant he can do, it has a neutrality 'warning' at the top and is it's own section. I would suggest it is you that is the biased one [http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1662864#post1662864]. Maybe we should stick a neutrality warning on you? To suggest that Prof can't state his views on something in his own article is absurd, granted on most wiki's this would be done on the user page, but we don't have to follow the rules of all other wiki's. On something like Wikipedia, a user would state their views on a particular subject on their talk page like Sim has done [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Simetrical here]. However, this wiki is different as members are allowed to have a page about themselves as an article as the members of TWC are it's most important aspect, providing all discussion, content and mods. Trying to keep something that clearly is designed to "give the gift of knowledge" (As quoted by Jimbo Wales, the Wikipedia founder on the purpose of all Wiki's in general), from turning into a pointless political rant isn't trolling in the slightest, sir and I think you should probably look up what the term actually means in the Terms of Service.

I have being making some decent non-pointless melodramatic edits to the Wiki, such as the [[Ogre's Network]] page. I have been inactive for a period though so my contributions of late are not extensive, but I am aiming to change that in the near future. However I have made a vast number of contributions in the past (Mostly in the fields of the Curia, helping other members out in the TW areas of the board and even the odd news submission).

On your points on the Curia itself: I have to say I agree with them. They are in fact, remarkably similar to one of the reasons why I left the Curia. I don't agree with how you want to resolve the issue, but I at least agree that there is issues with the Curia. As a side note, I'm planning a return to the Curia in the near future.

I probably shouldn't be posting this. I have an ungodly amount of work to do, and in part, that may have been why I had no qualms about getting myself suspended. But I cannot, in good conscious, let this debate about the future of the Curia, about the future of TWC, to go on like this. There is only one road we can go down if we want to save the Curia, there can be no question about this.

Mods, and the modders that make them, are the lifeblood of TWC. They are the bread and butter, they are responsible for drawing the members and sustaining the site and why we get support from CA. I don't think anyone would go so far as to deny this. While the Common Community is of importance, and perhaps what gives TWC its character and charm, it is the TW side in general and the modders specifically that 'pay the bills' literally and figuratively.

It is well known that modders are under-represented in the Curia. And it is equally well known that many dozens or hundreds of modders who have contributed in great amounts to the Mod community do not have more than 50 posts, perhaps are not well known on TWC, perhaps don't know about the Curia and citizenship. And it is just as well known, finally, that even if offered Patronisation, many modders would refuse it, because they have no interest in the Curia and no time for politics and forum games.

So, what are we left with? A Curia that is inherently and structurally and fundamentally slanted towards the CC, and no matter how many modders you bring in to the Curia, it will keep that slant, because modders mod, and CC'ers post. And where does this lead us? It leads us to a Curia, a so-called government, that is not representative of the life-blood of TWC. A government which inherently discriminates against the members who form the foundation for the site. And what power should they have to decide forum policy and rules and governing for members who refuse to, or cannot, participate in the Curia? What power do they have?

None. The Curia is irrelevant to Mod decisions. Constitutional or not, Staff will never, ever, submit a proposal to the Curia if the proposer does not want it to be. It will never, ever, allow the Curia to do something which could threaten modders. It will not allow the Curia to make any decisions which have effect outside of the Curia or the CC, unless they are superficial issues such as Reputation.

You can attempt to patronize all the modders you want. You can keep lowering the requirements. You can do whatever you'd like, but at the end of the day, if there are ANY inhibitions or obstacles for a modder representing themselves and voting, they will choose modding over it. This cannot be changed, nor should it. And what also will not change, then, is the Curia's inability to effect anything outside of the CC or Capitol.

The 'important' projects and achievements on this site are TW projects, without question. What is the last 'important' CC proposal? What is there on the level of the Registry, Unit Repository, even the Wiki was a TW idea. Their involvement with the Curia was only a formality; they would have happened with or without Curial approval. The same holds true for things such as the Tribunal; ultimately if what the Curia does is unpopular, or even felt unpopular by Hex, it WILL be overridden, it will be vetoed, it will be changed. Hex is in the business of keeping order; this means giving both Curial cookies and making sure the crumbs don't get into the actual site.

And I find myself in a conundrum. On the one hand, the Curia is a joke. It is ruled by vulture lawyers who either want to turn it into their private boy's club, or turn it into some sort of exclusive boy's parliament. These are the vocal ones, the ones who will never win, because it is the Staff who have control at the end of the day, and the silent members trust staff to do what they think is right, whether or not they believe TWC is a democracy or should be. They just, frankly, don't care.

On the other hand, the Curia is solely responsible for the amazing number of amazing admins and staff we have had, with few exceptions (which I could probably name on one hand, in how many years? Not bad). It has provided ALL staff since its inception, and we find TWC in a stronger state than its ever been. The Curia has proved a wildly successful tool for raising new members.

So why not let everyone into the Curia? We have far more than 'democracy' at stake, we have the future of the Curia and the closely-tied future of TWC. There WILL come a day, mark my words, when the Curia finds itself, picking its ass crack, wondering how the hell it wound up back where it had been in August, in October, in December, in January. When it sits in its armchair singing the tune to "All in the Family," wondering where things went wrong. The Curia will be stagnant, and useless, and not respected, and not handed any responsibility because how long will it be until Staff's patience with dealing with the Curia for the handouts it gives wears thin? And then someone will come along and say, "The reason the Curia isn't respected is because Staff has no reason to respect it!" And then someone will come along, and say, "the reason the Curia isn't respected is because our badges aren't big enough!" And then staff will give the Curia bigger badges, and things will be right for another couple months.

You can end it all now, quite easily, in fact. You can ensure the Curia's relevancy, you can ENSURE a popular mandate for the Curia that not even the most anti-Curial admins can deny. You can ensure that the Curia will be allowed to get what it wants because it is, uninhibited, the will of the people, not the will of a filtered ruling and non-representative class.

Again, why not? Because they won't read the discussions about the votes? Only someone who has spent less than a week as a citizen would think that any sizeable fraction of citizens read the discussions. I once tried to propose that people must demonstrate they've read the discussion, and this was shot down. Public voting was shot down. Every semblence of 'responsible' voting has been dismissed. It is unequivocally impossible to use uniformed voting as a reason to disqualify from voting.

How about that its unlikely most modders will ever make use of their rights? To that I say, who cares! So, they don't vote, what difference does it make? They HAVE the right to vote, they can become involved and have a voice without jumping through hoops. This isn't about increasing activity in the Curia, this is about rewiring the Curia from the insides, from a Curia of careful preservation of values and democratic ideals, to a Curia that will no longer be marginalized, that has relevancy and importance to and from and in the lifeblood of TWC.

And what about cheaters? I had three double accounts. I could have voted with them all. Oh well. I guess that's part of the baggage that comes along; democracy is far from perfect and is very scary. But do you really think the number of cheats will outweight the number of newly enfranchised members?

Before you fall back on your usual responses, I ask you to turn this over in your head some, as Aristocrat has done, as Tac has done, as WBK has done, as anyone I've approached directly has done. Because not only does it make sense, there's no other logical conclusion or outcome or solution. Already we find the great optimism of February is wearing off, and we find a Curia, apart from a few Committees and proposals kindly and voluntarily submitted to the Curia for ratification (Symposium and Wiki council, Registry and Unit Repository decisions), that is just as, if not more so, involved with naval gazing than before the reforms, and before the reforms before that, and before the reforms before the reforms before those reforms.

So what is it? Is the Curia an RPG for those citizens who have graduated from the Thema Devia? Or is it a government? The split is clear, the results of each are clear, and the route to each is clear, singular, and not overlapping.
