Overview
For King or Country is a modification for Medieval II: Total War that focuses on the English Civil War between the Parliamentarians and the Royalists. This modification is concerned heavily with historical accuracy, with faction generals being accurately positioned based on their location in 1642 represented with custom portraits and regiments.
Features
The campaign map runs on a twelve turns per year basis, as the English Civil War was historically rather short. The religion mechanic on the campaign has been replaced by a 'support' mechanism, as both of the factions in the Civil War were Protestant. Instead, support for either the King or the Parliament is measured and this can be influenced either way by the use of buildings that replace the religious buildings of the original campaign.
Each faction begins the game with twelve unique and historically accurate commanders, including Sir Thomas, Lord Fairfax, Robert Devereux, 3rd Earl of Essex for the Parliamentarians and King Charles I, Prince Rupert of the Rhine for the Royalists. There are also over fifty historical events that will occur over the course of the war.
Both factions have their own rosters, with access to fairly similar assortments of pikemen, musketeers, cavalry and artillery.
