European Wars, or EW for short, is a mod for Rome Total War that is set in the 18th century. It has new factions and new units to suit this time, and though it has been at the beta stage for some time, development is continuing slowly. Another mod, named European Wars 2, was made for Empire Total War by the same developer.

History

European Wars was first announced in 2007, but it took a very long time for the mod to be released. A beta version, with a few factions playable, but no campaign, was released in 2009, and it is this version that is available now. Due to time constraints development is slow, but the only things that remain to be put together for the mod to be released for single player battles only are the units.

Features

The beta version includes the following:

  • 6 playable factions, including Russia, Poland-Lithuania, Sweden, Prussia, Spain and Austria. Others will be added in later versions.
  • Each faction has a significant number of new units suiting the time period. They come in two eras, the era of Marlborough and the Wars of the Spanish Succession at the beginning of the 18th centtury, and the Seven Years wars of the mid 18th century.

The release version will include more factions, unit cards, and possibly a full campaign of its own, as well as some units from Napoleonic Total War 2.
