History

Macedon was a prosperous region to the north of Greece, who's first recorded king was Perdiccas I. The kings after him continued to establish control of Macedon, until the reign of Philip III. Philip II expanded Macedonian influence into Greece. He planned to invade the Persian Empire, but was assassinated. The task fell to Philip's son Alexander the Great. After retaking Greece, and campaigning against the tribes to the north,Alexander invaded and seized the Persian Empire,as well as parts of India. His empire fell apart after his untimely death. Macedon survived as a kingdom until the reign of King Perseas, who was defeated by the Romans. Alexanders succesors fought for years over his empire, although none managed to match his acheivements, The Ptolemys of Egypt and the Seleucids were among the most famous, they met in battle at Raphia where the Ptolemaic Egyptians succeded

Strategy

Macedon is a challenging faction to play, as plague will soon strike Thessalonica. They usually fight against Thrace, the Greek Cities and later on, the Brutii.

One possible strategy as Macedon would be to take over the Greeks, then attack the adjacent Romans, before eliminating the Thracians to the north. While fighting the greeks your Phalanx Pikemen will tear them to shreds. They have much longer spears. Longer even than Royal Pikemen. Thermon is the most important city to capture as that is the first place that the Brutii will attack. A good strong garrison is needed as the Brutii won't stop attacking even if you destroy their armies again and again. Solution? Attack the Brutii in Southern Italy and wipe them out. As you will now be at war with all the Roman factions the capture of Capua and then Rome is crucial. Make sure that the Scipii are now either none existent or too weak to be a threat. I recommend non-existence. Leave the Julii for now. By now you should control all of Greece, Southern Italy,Crete and the Balkans area. Thrace should also be destroyed and the capture of Byzantium before they get it is crucial. Make an alliance, build an army in Byzantium and stab them in the back.
