    Overview

These men are the elite of the French aristocracy, and can to afford the best in arms and armour, not just for themselves, but also for their horses. As the flower of French chivalry, they have an elan that is unrivalled. Although they have a reputation for rashness when mounted, many are pragmatic enough to realise that sometimes it is better to fight on foot.

    Details

Dismounted Noble Knights are a powerful infantry unit with a good defensive rating and an exceptionally strong attack. They carry no shields, however. Thus, Dismounted Noble Knights should mainly be used against other melee forces, as either a heavy shock troop or as an elite line unit. They also have armor piercing, which "ignores" half of their opponent's armor, which makes Dismounted Noble Knights have an even better edge against other armored units. They are phenomenal flankers, the best infantry flankers around. They also excel against cavalry in melee although watch out for the charge. Like most two handed units, their animation is a bit slow, which can make them vulnerable in melee.

They have a very reasonable cost, but do require a Citadel. They are among the best choices for 2 handed units in vanilla Medieval 2.
