Trained in many weapons, these Janissaries, fight with a halberd and are protected by mail armour.
Overview
The Janissaries are mostly formed from a levy of Christian boys, but also include prisoners of war who have converted to Islam. These elite heavy infantry are armed with a halberd and armoured in mail. They are expected to lead the infantry charge into battle with courage and honour.
Details
The Janissary Heavy Infantry are one of, if not the best, units in the game. Their halberd enables them to kill enemies while keeping a safe distance, while their mail armour protects them. They are relatively cheap compared to other heavy infantry and are trainable from cities, meaning that you do not have to sacrifice coin for military power. Their halberd means they are also powerful against anything but the most powerful cavalry unit and when in pike wall, one of their abilities, they are near invincible. Overall, the Janissary Heavy Infantry are a unit, which I highly recommend you use as playing the Turks in either multiplayer battles or campaign.
