    Overview

Well armoured, and equipped with a war hammer, these men are recruited to protect the far flung interests of the Venetian empire from many enemies, both at sea and on land. Their long hafted war hammers are designed to penetrate armour, making this heavy infantry unit a good choice for tackling armoured opponents.

    Details

When playing as Venice, Venetian heavy infantry should be used as the back line for your armies. They are sturdy, have high attack and defence and their armour piercing axe will cut through any enemy. In fact, they are one of the best heavy infantry units in the game, only surpassed by the Janissary units. The Venetian Heavy Infantry can hold their own to even the strongest cavalry units, though expect them to suffer at least some losses especially if charged from behind. Overall, they are an incredibly strong unit and they can be used to great effectiveness if used right.
