The game was released in 2004 and is still popular with players and modders. The game covers the period 270BC to AD 14 with a campaign that ranges across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The patch is the second in a series of add-ons that aims to bring lore accurate, fully functional, and beautiful custom settlements to The Dominion of Men full conversion mod. Europa Barbarorum v 1.21 Europa Barbarorum v 1.21 again did very well in the TWC 2016 Modding Awards for RTW, coming second in the "Favourite Hosted Mods" category, and first in the "Classic Favourite Hosted Mods" category. Their prolific team member b0Gia de Bodemloze also tied for first place in the "Most Popular Modder" category. The mod has a May 2017 update to version 1.21c for both Alex and RTW.
