Weekly CompetitionsTale of the WeekThe Tale of the Week Contest is a good way to boost your creativity: Each week an interesting picture, often from the Picture of the Week Contest, is chosen for competitors to write a short 'tale' about. After the submission period has concluded, a vote is held to ascertain which entrant has written the best story, based on the materials given. The winner of the weekly contest is awarded 1 point for the AAR Competitions Medals Scoreboard.
The following graphics competitions are held in the Screenshot Galleries:Picture of the WeekThe Picture of the Week Contest, in short PoTW consists of screenshots from all Total War games edited in any way, usually improving the graphics and the like, though from time to time creative twists are applied Unedited Screenshot of the WeekThe Unedited Screenshot of the Week Contest, in short UESW, allows exclusively unedited Total War Screenshots. The emphasis lies on the perfect shot at the perfect time, though the picture can be cropped, to leave out unit cards and the like. Game Picture of the WeekThe Game Picture of the Week Contest, in short GPotW, Submissions must be from a game other than Total War, submissions may be either edited or unedited screenshots |
Community SpotlightCreative Writing of the YearThe winner in this category is an excellent piece of writing. It is a work in which war, politics and interesting characters feature, set in a fantasy universe. Many congratulations to Admiral Van Tromp, whose Words of the Forgotten is our Creative Writing of the Year 2018! His prize is 4 WS competition points, which means he now has 17. Read the winning entry here Best NewcomerThis year, the award goes to someone who has been active all across the Writers' Study. He has written both an AAR and his own Creative Writing, he has contributed to m_1512's Genesis of Empires, and he has also commented on the writing of other people. He has participated in the MAARC and the MCWC, and has entered (and won) Tale of the Week. There is absolutely no doubt that the award for Best Newcomer is very thoroughly deserved by this year's winner - Kilo11! As a category winner, Kilo11 receives 4 competition points, so he now has 17 in total. AAR of the YearThis year's AAR of the Year is the story of a faction. It tells us of the unstoppable rise of Carthage against enormous odds, and of the great leaders who made that rise possible. Congratulations to Alwyn, who has won with New Town. Alwyn receives 4 WS competition points, giving him a total of 25, which means he has earned a gold Writers' Study competition medal. Read the winning entry here
