Casus Belli, often abreviated to CB, is an Italian mod for Rome: Total War.

History
Originally created and developed by the Italian team called Alaudae Team, the Rome Casus Belli project was stopped at the beta version 1.0.0 (subsequently updated to 1.1.0. with a patch). Modred, who was the Alaudae Team's leader, made a new edition in 2009, called Rome Casus Belli Classic Game. The in 2010 Iulianus Apostata made another new mod project called Rome Casus Belli Gold.
In late 2012, the Casus Belli Mod Team released their latest version, version 1.8.0.

All Rome: Total War factions were used, although some were renamed. This is the Casus Belli faction list:

Scripts
Casus Belli includes a lot of changes regarding scripts, namely:
- Historically accurate scripts, Rome: Total War's historical srcipts were deemed inaccurate and were changed by the Casus Belli Mod Team.
- Four military Roman reforms, in order to be historically acurate, Casus Belli introduces three additional military reforms for the Roman factions.
- 4 turn per year script, this tweak prolongs the amount of turns that can be played in a single campaign.
- A new AOR script, units can only be recruited in certain regions, like elephants in Rome: Total War.

Rome Casus Belli Gold is playable with Rome Total War (1.5), Rome Total War Barbarian Invasion (1.6) and Rome Total War Alexander engine (1.9).
