General Information

SEGA announced partnership with Games Workshop in December 6 2012, and is set to release in April 2016. It is to come in a trilogy of standalone expansions, which if bought together can be combined to create what CA describe as "the largest Total War experience to date." The game is set to feature 4 playable races: the Empire, Greenskins, Dwarfs, and Vampire Counts, and reflecting upon this, is set in the old world of WHFB.

Campaign Map

Engine

The engine in Total War: Warhammer is a new iteration of the last one built off of the Total War 3 engine that Total War: Attila was made from.

Gameplay

Total War: Warhammer is a complete departure from the historical settings that Total War is known for. Without the restrictions of historical accuracy, CA has been given alot of creative freedom in the range of Warhammer Lore. Allowing CA to introduce new mechanics to the gameplay bringing a fresh new aspect to the franchise

Casters/Magicians

Caster/magicians are a one troop unit and act as a support unit for the army by giving buffs to their army or debuffs to the enemy. Besides supporting skills, the Casters/magicians can also be an offensive tool as they can cast very powerful spells in the battlefield. As with everything powerful it comes with a side effect. Once the spell has been casted, the Casters/Magicians are no longer in control of the spell making it uncontrollable. This can result in killing a decisive victory or a horrible defeat.

Legendary Lords & Lords

Lords are only a one troop unit and are similar to the generals in the previous Total War titles, but alot more powerful. The lords are able to last a long time in a battle. This is because they have alot of hitpoints while being able to deliver alot of damage allowing them to take part in the heart of the battle. Each Lord carries their own bonuses that affect the entire army they are in, but once the lord dies in battle all the buffs seize to have effect. Lords come in different skill sets such as magic, combat and even a mixture of both. Besides being in the battlefield, Lords can act as overseers for a specific region in the campaign. When attacked in the province the lord will personally lead the garrison troops to defend the region.

Legendary Lords are the guys from the Warhammer Lore where each faction has two Legendary Lords. Legendary Lords are similar to Lords, but the only difference between them is that the Legendary Lords have their own skill tree that allows them to go on quests in the campaign map. Each legendary Lord has it's own skill tree and quests making them unique. The outcome of completing the quest will result in a quest battle and a location in the campaign map where the the army of the Legendary Lord has to go and fight a preset army in order to complete the quest and obtain a personal item that boosts the Legendary Lord's stats.

There will be a total of 48 factions present in the campaign with 4 being main factions excluding the DLC ones. There are certain minor factions that will be part of one of the main factions, while others will be neutral.
