All the Total War Series games are modifiable to an extent, the ease, scope and manner of possible modifications varies between the games. The popularity of the modifications made for the Total War games has contributed to their ongoing popularity. This page is not the place to find modifications, please refer to each individual game portal for that, here you will find links and advice on how to make your own modifications.
Warscape Engine
TW Engine 3 with the graphic engine "Warscape" has been used for Total War titles from Empire: Total War to Total War: Warhammer, there are similar tools and principles used in modding these games... (needs an e.g. is the pack manager / assembly kit common to all of them??? Is this even the right way to group them???)
M2TW uses the same underlying engine as RTW therefore many of the files and modification methods are similar. Battlemap unit models and settlement structures can be edited via Milkshape and user created tools.
Modding RTW
Overview
RTW uses .tga files and plain text files to build up the campaign map, and text files to control unit recruitment and settlement development. Battlemap unit models and settlement structures require 3dsMax to edit.
