Description

Napoleon: Art of War is the latest modification for Napoleon: Total War. It aims to give you a historically accurate portrayal of the Napoleonic era while still remaining fun and enjoyable. Napoleon: Art of War recreates all the aspects of the original game, making it as historically accurate and realistic as possible.

Map Overview
  • Complete unit statistics overhaul
  • Remade the unit regiment sizes, with each nation having their unique sizes, probably the most historically correct unit sizes
  • Redone general's unit sizes and some bodyguards
  • Redone unit ranges
  • Completely redone the barracks recruitment system
  • Added an 'Area of Recruitment' system (the first to do it properly to this extent)
  • Added new battle flags
  • Added campaign map, battle and main menu music
  • Adding a heap of units for all nations (major and minor, unlike other mods)
  • Added square formation to all elite, line, light and most millita
  • All skirmisher units can hide anywere (including buildings) and move without being seen
  • All elite units now inspire nearby soldiers
  • All units with bearskin grenadier hats, and the best elite units now frighten nearby enemies
  • All Nations now have their historical firing ranks for the line
  • Dragoons can now shoot from horseback
  • We are historially changing uniforms to their correct likeness
  • Muskets have their correct fire and reload rate and the accuracy of the musket has decreased significantly
  • Rifles are very much more accurate then muskets
  • Changed the names of all Nations to there proper names
  • Added realistic battle sound effects
  • Added smoke effects, thanks to the Battlefield smoke mod
  • Put a unit cap on all units except for some like militia
  • Deleted all wooden stakes from skirmishers
  • Moddified missile lethality
  • Changing naval statistics for more realism
  • Changing artillery statistics for more realism
  • Modified morale effects
  • Changed the amount of ammo each different regiment carries
  • Changing the campaign armies on the map
  • We have increased the some armor values
  • All militia and dragoons now have a policing bonus
  • Removed preset armies
  • Changing the campaign mode to July 1806 when the formed Federation of the Rhine is established
  • Changing ownership of some regions for it to be historically correct to the 1806 period
  • Change the miss fire rate to 1 out of 5
  • Im working on my own BAI & CAI, but in the mean time were using the Ultimate AI Mod
  • A few minor animation changes thanks to tiyafeh's animation mod
  • Cannons now have gunpowder marks on the end of them (thanks to MB's cannon gunpowder mod)
  • We have our own intro movie, thanks to xHerzoGx awesome work
  • All equipment has been retextured thanks to pdguru's mod
  • Changed the capital of The Russian Empire to St. Petersburg
  • Added some battle maps, thanks to Baron von Beer's mod
  • Replaced loading screen quotes with parts of Sun Tzu's Art of War
  • Changed unit spotting range
  • All infantry and dismountable cavalry can now hide inside of buildings
  • All Chasseur-a-Cheval can dismount
  • French Line and Elite troops will be deployed in column formation
  • Replaced the loading screens with our own
  • The inspire ability that generals use now has a much greater effect on routing troops
  • Assigning all regiments to their correct names
  • Planning on making new and better unit cards for all units
  • Redone General's custom battle command stars, now the French have the most inferior generals on the field of battle
  • All cavalry except for lancers (because of a visual problem) can now dismount thier horses
  • Camera shake reduced
  • Nations have histroical amounts of artillery pieces in a battery or regiments
  • Were working on our own Tech Tree, but this will take a while to complete
  • Giving all nations thier correct file and rank spacings
  • No more Experimental Howitzers
  • Change the Unit Experiance stats
  • Units will usually retreat when they lose about half their regiment
  • New unit cards for all generals
  • Added horse howitzers, which CA missed for some reason, and many more artillery
  • Redoing the way a seige battle works; you dont have grappling hooks any more, and all cannons except for the new siege cannons can effectivly brake through a fortress wall.
  • Renamed the unit class "Artillery" to "Foot Artillery" and added a "Siege Artillery" class
  • Removed Rocket Ships and Bomb Ketchs because they were siege ships, not used for open Naval Warfare
  • Removed Ironclads because they wern't around during this period
  • Increased the size of battle maps, they are now twice the size
  • The bigger caliber of the cannon, the more shots there will be in a cannister shot
  • Cannister shots reload quicker than a round shot because it doesn't take as long to site thier target
  • Troops aim up their target for longer and naval cannons stick out of the hull a bit, thanks to oby's firing animations mob
  • New marching speeds, now your entire army will march at the same speed
  • Removed honour/unique regminets
  • French and British armies textures have had a complete overhaull thanks to L'aigles mod
  • The Austrian Army has had a retexture to have much more historical accuracy and detail
