    Overview

Prussian Bosniaks are an irregular mounted soldier on light horse capable of a devastating charge. These riders are historically mercenary in nature hailing from the Balkans as their name suggests. They fight with a passion and zeal as they were often paid in plunder!

Although they have origins in the Balkans as their name would suggest, "Bosniak" Lancers can include men from many nations. Historically the prototype for this unit was raised by an Albanian, Stephen Serkis, who recruited a force of lancers originally intended for Saxon service. He then offered his men to Frederick the Great (1740-86) of Prussia. Even though Frederick thoroughly dissaproved of irregular units in Prussian service, he took them into his army, and later recruited Poles, Lithuanians and Tatars to replenish the ranks. The regiment was eventually amalgamated into various other light cavalry forces by the beggining of the 19th century.

    Details

Bosniaks are an Elite Lancer unit available only to Prussia. Lancers are a very different type of cavalry from the standard regiments of horse. They have significantly worse melee and defense stats in general; however, they have a much higher charge bonus. This makes them very suitable for charging enemy positions and to break enemy morale, but less apt in a pitched battle. Due to the fact that Lances are inadequate in close combat it is advised that lancers should be use to charge, withdraw and then charge again in order to efficiently use their charge bonus.
