Overview

Chosen archers are highly prized for their superior skills in war. They are the best archers available to barbarian warlords. They are all, as might be expected, excellent bowmen, fleet of foot and expert hunters. They are given the best bows available to their people, and are also equipped with good swords and chainmail armour too. This equipment means that they can do more than just defend themselves in hand-to-hand combat. They can, when required, act as light infantry. Their presence on a battlefield is always useful, as they have the flexibility to be both archers and infantry and do a good job in both tasks.

Details

Chosen Archer Warbands are elite archers and much better than the Archer Warbands they replace in all ways. They have a high ranged attack that has long range and they are competent in melee, enough to surprise enemies and turn the tide of a close melee. They can fight off a lot of early tier Infantry in melee on their own, especially after a few volleys. Solid armor and high morale round out their excellent stats. Chosen Archers can function as both very deadly archers and as light infantry.

They still can't really take a charge from good cavalry and against very strong infantry like Legionaries they don't stand a chance by themselves. However their ranged attack and melee competency makes Chosen Archers a good unit.
