Denmark begins the campaign with only Arhus under its control, though it is surrounded by rebel provinces, and the faction most likely to be its main enemy, the Holy Roman Empire, lacks the effective early era troops Denmark has.

Danish units not-so-subtly imply an assault orientated faction as the majority are heavy infantry, but they also have access to norse archers, effective early hybrids.

Denmark controls Jutland and surrounding regions near the Baltic Sea.
In addition to this, the Danes can also recruit Norse war clerics, powerful early/high period heavy cavalry. Defensive troops aren't ignored either, as the Danes can recruit Swordstaff armed troops, including a militia variety. But Danish heavy infantry will be the mainstay of its armies, from Viking Raiders to Obudshaer's, all unique troops are effective in a fight and can all pierce armour.

the Danish navy is also strong in the early period, having access to Longboats.

In the upcoming kingdoms expansion, the Danes will also have to ability to merge with Norway and recruit the finest Norwegian troops.

Overall, the Danes give the impression of a faction that's at its best in the early period, but whose skill wanes as more time passes, that said, it is not to the degree of the Byzantines.

===Faction overview===

'''Strengths:''' Has a good mix of pikes, spears, ranged units and heavy infantry with access to powerful Norse units. Quite a secure starting position with regions to the north that are ripe for conquest. Has good access to the sea and sea trade, meaning Denmark can be a wealthy nation. Good secure position from which to strike at Europe.

 +
'''Weaknesses:''' Like the Scots, has only one region to begin the game with and no castle. Scandinavian regions are not as profitable as others and lack valuable resources. Very close to their toughest rival, The Holy Roman Empire. Quite far from the holy lands and somewhat isolated from the rest of the world, which some may se as an advantage. later in the game they may also be threatened by the mongols, which the danish may have problems dealing with.
 +

 +
'''Conclusion:''' The Danes will find it easy to take the northern regions to consolidate their hold over Scandinavia. Expansion past this point however will not be so easy. Denmark can expect to come into contact with The Holy Roman Empire very early on and later in the game, the Poles and even the Russians. Denmark will need to stand firm in the face of foreign expansion and forays into Danish territory to eventually make there way to the rich holy lands and win the campaign.

Has good access to the sea and sea trade, meaning Denmark can be a wealthy nation. Good secure position from which to strike at Europe.
