TWC's Discord Server was announced in 2018. It began as a convenient way to coordinate staff and grew into a nifty extra for the site to use if TWC itself was down or for general discussion for those who prefer Discord.
The Forum Terms of Service apply to all communication on the Server, and for TWC Staff the SnD rules also apply. It is operated by site administrators and a couple of unique Discord Staff members. These are:
Moderation on the Server is handled similar as it would be on the Wiki or for Blogs - case by case, with abuse receiving no tolerance and no appeal through usual moderation channels. The structure is not attached to the Forum partially because it is open to non TWC members.
The Server has three public categories: general questions & discussion, modding and multiplayer. The first allows site questions and discussion, has channels for various site features and is one way to ask about and resolve registration or login problems. The second has channels to troubleshoot and discuss modding, and will soon have an area to share relevant Servers (in replacement of the unused Hosted Mod section). The third allows members to find fellow combatants and also gives rooms for voice coordination. Staff have their own private channels.
The following things will not become features on the Discord:
- Political, heavy Discussion and Debate topics. General arts and media discussion is acceptable.
- Advertising for totally unrelated communities or services. Leeway exists especially in specialized channels but this is determined case by case - ask if you are unsure or there is not a pinned explanation when this seems more relaxed.
