The Eagle Standard is the main newsgroup around which anything dealing with the Total War aspect of the community, forum reports, AAR submissions, AAR reviews, mod reviews, TW fansite reviews, editorials, modding team interviews, and anything else relevant to the TWC modding community and TW community as a whole is covered.

The Eagle Standard is not to be confused with the Helios, which is another newspaper published every fortnight for TWC, but is primarily concerned with the happenings in the forum, as opposed to the Total War games.

The Eagle Standard releases every last Monday of the month.

Current Staff

Here are the Content Writers for the Eagle Standard, poor saps that are somehow stuck with contributing one article at least with every publication.
Bulgaroctonus:

The reigning SS, I mean ES Fuhrer, ES Editor. Primarily charged with whipping his subordinates into action and is especially effective against the caged Hex Khan, the ES beast of burden.

Bulgaroctonus contributes in the forms of providing interviews and recently his own After Action Reports in the form of the Medieval Total War game with his Russian Campaign and Scottish Campaign.

Bulgar is a fine guy to work with fair and understanding and rewards good work the perfect boss man. *As the thunderous lashes cease*

Hex Khan:

I am one of the newer members of the SS, I mean ES, when I first was accepted I was primarily there to provide AARs for the Eagle Standard, my first being the French Campaign, being notoriously fickle I have several AARs that remain undone.

Lets face it I’m lazy really, Bulgar doesn’t whip me enough.

I also have a colourful history when it comes to hosting interviews and ES Issues, a fine example of this being the Darth Vader interview and April Fools Issue.

Also known within the ES circle for being the ‘caged lion’ due to the sheer amount of content I can go through in a short amount of time as Bulgar begins to lash at me through the bars.

I’d say I was a wise and thoughtful colleague willing to support and help in any way, but of course I’d say that just to seem like a nice guy, but I’m not. If anyone will get you fired from the ES it would be me, since I’d most likely overlap you and Bulgar would end up firing you for slacking…

Sir Dinadan:

Walrus or now referred to as Sir Dinadan is one of the longest contributing members of the ES, he primarily focus’s on interviewing. Dinadan hasn’t incurred the wrath of any of the editors he worked with, so rest assured ladies his boyish good looks remain unharmed.

Sir Dinadan is also interestingly the youngest member of the Eagle Standard, and one of the longest serving likewise and possibly the youngest Patrician too quite the achievement really, but I’m not prepared to swear by it because I’m sure either Giga or the Grim Speaker, Ozy would surely come down on me like a ton of bricks if I did because I’d likely to be wrong anyway.

Sods law really...

Sir Dinadan can also be found at the butt end of jokes between Hex and Bulgar, though we love him really not even if Bulgar is willing to admit to it.

Selenius4tsd:

Selenius4tsd is also a long standing member of the Eagle Standard much like Dinadan however no one of the current generation is exactly sure what he actually contributes, it’s a great mystery within the ES. Some say he actively pursues rare and exotic interviewees for sport. While others claim he is the secret and dark hand in the shadows that enforces the ‘Iron Will and Cold Discipline’ of Bulgaroctonus…

Others claim he isn’t actually doing anything but is either doing one of two things; working hard with his partner Dragases1453 on the Aevum Fidei mod, or more likely, abusing his Moderating powers finding the names and addresses of everyone reading this and will promptly be dispatching his evil underlings to slap an eviction notice on the door of your home and issuing a false jury duty summons through the letterbox.

Beware, absolute power corrupts absolutely…

Leonidas The Lion:

Leonidas is a relative newcomer to the Eagle Standard originally signed up to do part time work providing…

Well I don’t know really I’m sure he’s secretly work as Bulgar’s architect to world-domination and the overthrowing of the Wilpurites from TWC, but that’s my hunch.

Leonidas has now agreed to become a fully fledged member of the ES team so we should see more of him providing interviews and what not, and should I cease righting for the ES you’ll know why, being the only Wilpurite it means Bulgaroctonus has enacted his ‘Great’ purge…

Ippius:

Ippius was first noticed for his After Action Reports, he is a fine story teller and fantastic picture editor which match’s his writing skills.

Sadly Ippius hasn’t contributed much and as a result has been detained in the SS Concentration Camp, whoops… ES Contribution Centre and is being re-educated for his own good of course…

Though Ippius has delivered Stirling work in the form of his own The Bear Russian AAR which was first published in the April 1st Edition and has several outstanding works lurking somewhere in the M2TW AAR forum, if you dare to hunt for them.

Plutarch:

Plutarch or Comte de Laconia was a regular contributor to the Eagle Standard always providing something by the end of every week however, and quite sadly he simply vanished.

Plutarch contributed many fine and insightful interviews for us all to enjoy when he was still active within the Eagle Standard until I suppose the evil, devilishly malicious wave of reality swept him away.

We’ve been sending out waves upon waves of ES Agents to find the illusive soul but to no avail…

I’m starting to wonder if the Eagle Standard is cursed with misfortune?

Titus Atius Labienus:

Titus Joined the ES at the same time as I, however I do believe he once worked for them in times of antiquity. Titus hasn’t been the most active member in the running of the Eagle Standard however do not grudge him that, for when he did provide us with contributions they were of quality.

What ever became of Titus Atius Labienus remains a mystery even to this day…
