Gaul (RTW Faction)
Gaul Faction Symbol-Vanilla.png
Name: Gaul
From Game: Rome: Total War
Culture: Barbarian
Playable:

Gaul is one of the playable factions in Rome: Total War. It can be played after successfully completing a campaign as a Roman faction or by simple modifications to the game files (more information on which can be found here).

Gameplay

Gaul is a 'barbarian' civilization, and thus are unable to build stone walls and access many of the types of buildings and units that the Roman and Greek cultures are able to. However this does mean that they get their Elite troops much quicker than "civilised" factions.

Starting Position

Gaul starts in what is now France, as well as Northern Italy. They are bordered by the Julii to the south, Spain to the West and the Britons to the North,

At the beginning of the campaign, they hold the following settlements:

  • Alesia (Capital)
  • Condate Redonum
  • Patavium
  • Lemonum
  • Medolanium
  • Narbo Martius
  • Numantia

Victory Conditions

  • Long Campaign: Hold 50 regions including Rome
  • Short Campaign: Hold 15 regions and outlast or destroy the Julii and the Senate

Units

Unique Units

  • Forester Warband: Become available after the player builds a higher-tier Archery Range.
