  • Gothic knights thumbnail.png Impressive looking heavy cavalry, well protected by armour for both rider and mount. Equipped with lance and mace.

    Overview

These distinctive looking knights are the Holy Roman Empire's elite warriors. Their armour is in the distinctive fluted gothic style produced by the finest German armourers, and include the popular visored sallet helmet. Riding an armoured warhorse and wielding a lance and mace, Gothic knights have little to fear on the battlefield. Well practiced in heavy cavalry tactics these knights make a fearsome addition to any Imperial army.

    Details

Clothed in armour from head to toe, Gothic Knights are one of the best cavalry units in the game. Even their horses are heavily armoured. They can deliver a deadly charge and can survive in melee against nearly all heavy infantry. Their armour piercing mace means that no foe, whether armoured or not, can escape them. Their only weakness are spears and, like every cavalry unit, will fall victim if the player is foolish enough to charge them head on. Unfortunately, it is impossible, without the aid of modding, to use Gothic Knights in campaign but they can still be used in multiplayer and custom battles.
