Similar to spiritual leaders, the imam is the one who leads the prayer during Islamic gatherings. Muslim beliefs states that the Imam is chosen by God to be perfect examples for the faithful and to lead all humanity in all aspects of life.
An Imam is also appear in M2tw where is can be used to convert the population to Islam. They can also be used to declare Jihads on other factions. You need a certain amount of piety to call one though.
