Overview
Used throughout the Byzantine Empire to protect merchants, provincial towns and roads, Militia Cavalry are armoured in light mail and equipped with a spear. Though poorly trained, these men are good at chasing down archers and other light troops.
Details
Militia Cavalry are the only dedicated melee light cavalry available to the Byzantine Empire. Their stats are quite poor and will likely fall apart if they were to be stuck in combat.
The best use for Militia Cavalry is to harass missile units and chase down fleeing infantry and even then the Missile cavalry the Byzantine Empire can recruit can do a better job of both tasks. Militia Cavalry can't even be considered cavalry you can recruit in a pinch due to requiring a merchants guild in a city.
Overall Militia Cavalry will likely be a unit you are unlikely to use due to the guild requirement and the fact that they just dont offer much on the battlefield that your other cavalry can't provide.
