Description

Napoleon: Art of War is the latest modification for Napoleon: Total War. It aims to give you a historically accurate portrayal of the Napoleonic era while still remaining fun and enjoyable. Napoleon: Art of War recreates all the aspects of the original game, making it as historically accurate and realistic as possible.

Map Overview

GENERAL CHANGES

  • Put a unit cap on all units, except for some like militia
  • All militia and dragoons have a policing bonus
  • Added some battle maps
  • For custom battle, French generals now have 1 more command star than all other nations
  • Camera shake reduced

CAMPAIGN CHANGES

  • Added an Area of Recruitment system
  • Changing the campaign armies
  • Changing the Campaign start date to July 1806, which is when the Confederation of the Rhine was established
  • Modifing the campaign for the new 1806 time
  • New campaign AI
  • Changed the capital of Russia to St. Petersburg
  • Working on our own tech tree

(our mod is only focusing on the custom battles at the moment and hasn't started on the campaign, but were planing it out)

LAND BATTLE MECHANICS CHANGES

  • Complete unit statistics overhaul, making it much more historically accurate;
  • The meele fights are much shorter
  • The ranged fights go much longer
  • The range of fire arms are much more realistic
  • The accuarcy of fire arms are much more realistic
  • Reload rates are much more accurate
  • Each unit has their correct amount of ammo
  • Modified some armour values
  • Unit sizes have been completely redone, with all nations having their historical sizes
  • Nations have the historical amount of artillery peices in a battery
  • Cavalry are now realisticly powerful
  • Modified missile lethality
  • Changed the miss-fire rate to 1 out of 5
  • Modified unit spotting range
  • The bigger caliber of a cannon, the more shots there will be in a canister shot
  • Canister shots reload quicker because it doesn't take as long to sight thier target
  • Modified marching speed, so your entire army marches at the same speed
  • Sieges have been overhauled, no more grappling hooks, and we have introduced seige artillery
  • New battle AI
  • All of the best generals now have thier elite bodyguards
  • Battle maps are now twice the side
  • Morale has been dramaticly overhauled
  • Most elite units inspire nearby allies
  • Certain elite units frighten nearby enemy units
  • Inspire ability is now much more effective
  • All elite, line, light and militia infantry can use square formation
  • All Skirmisher units can hide any were and move without been seen
  • All nations units have their historical firing ranks
  • All cavalry with fire arms can fire from horse back
  • All infantry and dismountable infantry can hide inside of buildings
  • All nations have thier correct rank deployment and spacing
  • All cavalry can dismount
  • Added much more units to all nations armies, for a much better variety and historical accuracy
  • Added many more artillery units, like 3-lber all the way to 24-lber, and horse howitzers
  • Deleted wooden stakes
  • Deleted Experimental Howitzers
  • Deleted honour/unique regiments

(As you can see, our mod at the moment is greatly focusing on recreating the battle mechanics for much more realistic gameplay)

NAVAL BATTLE MECHANICS CHANGED

Most of our naval changes are because of this mod included: CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT

  • Deleted Bomb Ketches and rocket ships because they were not used in open naval warfare
  • Deleted Iron Clads because they were not around during this time

VISUAL & AUDIO CHANGES

  • France, Britian and Austria have been completely retextured to look 100% historical and look much more detailed
  • New battle flags
  • Added realistic blood and sound effects
  • Added much better smoke effects
  • Cannons have gunpowder marks on the end of them
  • All equipment has been retextured
  • We have our own into movie
  • Replaced loading screen quotes with some very useful Sun Tzu Art of War extracts
  • Replaced the loading screen quotes with our own
  • New unit cards made from historical painting
  • Changed the names of all nations to their correct, foreign names
  • Renamed all units to their correct, foreign names
  • Added much better battle sound effects
  • Added our own main menu music
  • Added our own battle and campaign music
