Portugal is one of the factions in [[Medieval II: Total War]] that can be unlocked by either eliminating them during a campaign or by meeting the victory conditions. The army of Portugal is a very odd one in comparison to their neighbours. The Portuguese have a very strong army including, the various Iberian skirmishers, armoured pikemen in the late age, Portuguese arquebusiers who are highly armoured arquebusiers who can definitely take a charge, and Portuguese knights who are the equal of noble knights or English knights. The Portuguese start off with a bad army but if you manage to expand, your army is probably the best army in the game due to all the varieties. Heavy knights for attack, armoured pikemen for defense, and one of the best musketeer units.

In the beginning, Portugal starts out with just Lisbon and Pamplona, and it can be difficult expanding from there. Eventually, the Moors or the Spanish will attack you, so either keep large armies in your territories, or defeat them, because betrayal is likely to happen.

Portugal is one of the factions in Medieval II: Total War that can be unlocked by either eliminating them during a campaign or by meeting the victory conditions. They can also be made playable via modding. For obvious reasons they start the game adjacent to Spain and the Moors on the Iberian Peninsula, possessing Lisbon and Pamplona.

Starting Position

Portugal's Starting Position.

Portugal's starting position separates the faction into two halves, one settlement in the East and one in the West. This could start them with endless possibilities.
