Ah thanks for the info, yeah I'm quite new to this thing here... signing is only encouraged on pages like these? So whatever articles I change and create it is all visible to you guys, ok good to know. It seemed that this wiki is very anonymus, but that's not the case apparently =)

What about the Main Page anyway? Who decides on which articles are outdated, and what the new ones should be about?

Mollsomg 21:00, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

heh glad you like it! About the index, i wanted to test it out, no worries. Now as for the 1024 thing. You can see there is ::a massive ammount of text, under no circumstances I can make this page thinner :( It would grow huge then, totally ::unreadable..Anyways Im close to finishing this wooho Mollsomg 19:39, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

User Pages

HI Makanyane, it has come to my notice that users are posting new pages for links to their TWC profiles, there are User pages to place personal pages, as you well know, what can I/we/ moderators do about this?

Also is there a link to the current moderators? Thanks! Magnus 11:30, 20 September 2007 (CDT)

As the Wiki is partly about the TWC website and its users there are a lot of articles which are about the users of the forum - in some but not all cases users have the same username on both forum and wiki. There can be an article page made about any forum user involved with the TW games on TWC, Org or other sites. The article pages are legitimate and should show the forum users history and be titled with their forum username see for instance Shigawire which is a fairly basic page about a modder who is not a wiki user, having a link to the persons forum profiles also seems useful in this context (if for instance you wanted to contact a modder about their mod which is mentioned here).
An article page about someone should be factual, in the context of what is known about that forum user. If someone is a wiki user they can have both an article about their forum persona, and also a wiki user page, the wiki user page would be expected to have more latitude in terms of what can be posted there. However the user can if they wish divert the user page to their article if they have an appropriate one.
did any of that make sense? If not Scorch is the current wiki-editor, and there is an on forum disscussion area here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=489 (I did try getting a discussion area going in TWC_Wiki:Pub but most users are forum based so that didn't really take off) -Makanyane 12:42, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
What you are saying makes perfect sense but is it not what User pages are for? I do not wish to make this into something it isn't so sorry if it seems I am trying to stir up an argument. Magnus 12:55, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
Yes, I am just going on Wikipedia's policy of "a page created by user about or concerning a user is forbidden" OWTTE. Therefore ~The Doctor~ would not be allowed as it is clearly made by BLB about himself/ his profile [1]. I appreciate you getting back to me so quick and thankyou about the info on Scorch I will take it up with that user as you are not a moderator (no offence, I just dont want you bogged down in something which does not concern you). Nah that still sounded derogotory. Regards Magnus 13:10, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
Sorry about my ranting fiasco, I will be more concerned about the current articles rather than userpages in future. Magnus 07:58, 23 September 2007 (CDT)
I assure you I will be the first. I assure you I will not be the last. Would it kill you to sign comments? I don't expect to have to look at the page history to find out who has vandalised my talkpage. Thankyou for experimenting on MY talkpage. Twcenter is dead, long live Magnus. JamesMarat 04:23, 24 September 2007 (CDT)
Edit. Please stop posting red links on to my page. They're making me feel sick. Next time you want to post on my talkpage, ask for my permission first, via your talk page. Twcenter is dead, long live Magnus. JamesMarat 06:52, 24 September 2007 (CDT)

Blocked User

Hi I have been using the special:Recentchanges page to keep up to date on the comings and going on this wiki. I agree with the block of User:JamesMarat, that is not in doubt but one believes that it is only 'human' to administer warnings beforehand. You failed to do this by notifying him on his talk page but its OK no harm done. Oh and remember to sign your posts using: ~~~~ Magnus 12:11, 24 September 2007 (CDT)

I'd agree in principle to leaving a warning, especially if it was someone who had previously made positive contributions, however he had not responded positively to the normal please do not experiment (for experiment read vandalise) message - which I confess I forgot to sign. He did appear to be actively vandalising the wiki again and was using inappropriate language here. He had also made absolutely no positive contributions to the wiki under that user name so I think the chances of the account reforming where probably non-existent and giving time for warning and response more likely to escalate the problem. I will discuss details privately with the current sysops / admins though. Anyway, it is good to know we've got someone else keeping an eye on Recent Changes, thanks for that Magnus. -Makanyane 12:59, 24 September 2007 (CDT)
No problem Mak, I have re-read my latest comment to you and I did not wish to come over so brash. We'll have to look out for juplicates, James_Marat's, James Marat's etc. Happy posting! Magnus 14:37, 24 September 2007 (CDT)
Hi, would it not be better just to block the user (User:JamesMarat) from editing, not everyone with the same IP? I notice that I was forbidden from editing from my College, where I am editing from now. This IP is for all of Kriklees' schools, colleges etc so therefore to block the IP would forbid many innocent users, thanks Magnus 07:18, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
I have passed request to technical admin to review the block and adjust as they feel appropriate, I hadn't thought that you should be affected using your pre-existing account, but I don't know much about the inner workings of the system! The innocent users point is a good one, unfortunately in this as in many things one person behaving badly can have side effects that affect others. I apologise if it has caused you any inconvenience. Regards Makanyane 10:05, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
It wasn't much of an inconvienience, just about an 3 hours of posting time gone from college, I am was fine, last night, at home so no problem. BTW who is the technical boffin? Magnus 15:46, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
Sorry again and Technical boffin = User:Simetrical - Makanyane 01:55, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

Sure, I do that Mak.~ Warman8

Mak, https://wiki.twcenter.net/index.php?title=Ambush_at_Bizen, Can you fix the text for me? I delete something I think :(. Sorry to bother you. ~ {BHC}Warman888

2 more questions. 1. How do I get that Content box that you have? 2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWA_World_Heavyweight_Championship

How can I get the statics page there with all the names and that (I need something similar for a TW MP contest page).

Warman8 17:02, 6 May 2009 (UTC) For the content box, I wanted to use it for my own User profile on TWC wiki also and maybe some other pages also Mak. ~{BHC}Warman888

Thanks Maky! How much do you owe you now :)? Warman8 16:07, 7 May 2009 (UTC) {BHC}Warman888

BI Faction pages

Hey, I decided to put the Barbarian Invasion faction overview sheet at the bottom of the respective BI faction pages rather than at the top. The ETW faction sheet was put at the bottom of the ETW faction pages as well and I thought it'd be a good idea. What do you think? Astaroth 19:33, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Cool. By the way, being unfamiliar with RTW/BI modding I'm unsure what the different cultures are called. So far, I've simply called the Roman culture (East/West and their rebels) "Roman", the Germanic culture (Franks, Alemanni etc) "Barbarian" and the horse people's (Huns, Sarmartians) culture "Steppe". Are there any other words I should use? Possibly Germanic instead of Barbarian? What are the cultures called in the files? Thanks in advance. :) - Astaroth 16:32, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the help! - Astaroth 17:08, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Front Page

Hi Mak, I like the overall idea, however I'm trying to sort out something with content whereby the new mods list is kept up to do with each new issue of the ES or something, so I would prefer it if that were retained. Also, on a layout point, I prefer the current portal game layout-in your version the game sections are just too big for my liking (with the exception of the TWR2 box, which is fair enough as its the latest game), and to be honest most of the extra links there don't need to be present since they are/will be in the portals already (they might be out of date now, but I'm about to start working on it with the wiki team so that will change). I need to consult my fellow content directors on the arts portal-the future of that hasn't yet been decided so best not delete it at least for the moment. Hope this helps Tango12345 16:36, 19 December 2013 (MST)

Feel free to update the PKH section whenever you like, we'll be doing the portals first and won't get to the main page until later on. We are setting up a rota however, that should avoid the issue in future. As for the spam, I'll hopefully get round to it soon, but we will see. If some of them pop up again I'll certainly hit them. Tango12345 15:47, 21 December 2013 (MST)

I see what you mean. Well, that's what happens if they aren't indef banned in the first place I suppose. Thanks for having a go at it. Thankless task but it must be done. Will try and make time to check up on the remainder. Tango12345 10:47, 22 January 2014 (MST)

There, cleared up the few that were left (I just ctrl+F'd "expire" in the entire block log and dealt with the those which were still on temporary blocks) Tango12345 11:00, 22 January 2014 (MST)

Ok. Well, if any more rear their ugly heads one of us will deal with them. Tango12345 13:35, 23 January 2014 (MST)

Some old contentless modding pages

Hey Mak. I found the following 3 modding pages in the cleanup section, Descr offmap models.txt, Kindoms batch (sic) and Shared.txt. I'm guessing you are more familiar with this kind of page than I am, so, would should be done about them? Tango12345 03:51, 1 February 2014 (MST)

Ok great. My cleanup and information adding to-do list is so large I barely want to mention it, but its all getting done one small step at a time. Tango12345 12:10, 2 February 2014 (MST)

Hmm

I'm having serious trouble trying to upload or edit images, especially File:ACW Image 2.jpg and File:Blackguardte4.jpg, which, unlike the one I uploaded shortly beforehand, I cannot visit the page of nor edit in any way, though the former shows up on the page (American Civil War : The Blue and the Gray) fine. Can you replicate this? I may have to speak to GED about it. Tango12345 10:30, 5 February 2014 (MST)
