Total War: Warhammer III is the third instalment in the Total War: Warhammer series. A cinematic trailer appeared and the game itself was released on February 17, 2022.

General Information

Total War: Warhammer introduced the Old World in the Warhammer fantasy setting and Warhammer II showed us the New World to the west. Warhammer III takes us east of the Old World, beyond the World's Edge Mountains into previously unexplored lands.

Features

In Warhammer III's prologue campaign, two brothers march north in search of Ursun, the God-Bear whose absence leaves Kislev in a winter without end. In the main campaign, the factions compete over Ursun - some want him free, others want him dead. Periodically, rifts open on the campaign map, offering entry to the Realm of Chaoas - but these portals open both ways. The Realm of Chaos campaign was reviewed by the Eagle Standard in October 2022. Players who own Warhammer I, II and III on the same platform (such as Steam) can play an Immortal Empires campaign on an exceptionally large campaign map featuring factions from all three games in the Warhammer trilogy.

Zerkovich demonstrated a host of quality of life features offered by Warhammer III at launch:

  • Quick deals in diplomacy
  • Escape zones in ambushes
  • Warning trespassers to leave your territory within two turns
  • More war co-ordination options with allies
  • Outposts in allied cities (allowing you to recruit their units)
  • Reinforcements arrive after a timer in battles
  • Region trading
  • Customisable lord (for Daemons of Chaos)
  • Option of automatically assigning skill points for characters
  • Enemy armies take attrition after one turn when under siege
  • Option to rematch (automatic opportunity to re-play a battle)

Factions

The playable factions at the launch of the game were:

  • Daemons of Chaos
  • Grand Cathay
  • Khorne, the Blood God
  • Kislev
  • Nurgle, the Lord of Decay
