The beta of the mod was released in summer 2006 and has spawned several releases including the gold edition of the beta, two patches and a 'completed' version 4.0 . The final, modfoldered version (v4.5) was released on August 25, 2008,and is available for download.

Description

Troy: Total War is a mod based on Bronze Age Greece and depicts the Trojan Wars and the Greek Civil Wars at the time. It aimed to create a mod that covered the period of the Iliad, whist remaining as close and faithful to historical detail as possible. The units in the mod have largely been inspired by the movie 'Troy' and have been made completely from scratch, as well as new animations. The mod also includes a new concept to Rome: Total War - the use of heroes.

Features

Factions

Troy: Total War lets you choose between 19 factions, all from the time of the Trojan War. These include:

  • Troy
  • Mycenae
  • Pthia
  • Minoa and more

Each faction also includes a large and unique unit roster.

Campaign Map

A whole new campaign map has been created, focusing mainly on Greece and the Aegean. The campaign map is very detailed and contains a large number of provinces, including the islands of Crete and Cyprus.

Combat and units

  • Completely new combat animations have been added to the units, representing the combat of the era.
  • A completely new roster of units has been created from scratch, containing new models and skins. The uniforms of the units have been closely based on the movie 'Troy' in order to give a good visual representation of the units of the era.

Heroes

One of the most interesting features of Troy: Total war is special hero units. Each faction has its own hero, including figures such as Achilles of Phthia and Hector of Troy. All of the heroes have their own unique skin based on their appearance in the movie 'Troy'. Each hero has the ability to wreak havoc on the enemy forces.
