First of all, there is the threat from the [[Seleucid Empire (RTW Faction)|Seleucid Empire]] to the north east. They are a big empire, very capable of causing problems. A possible tactic is to attack them very fast (at turn 2-3) and take Antioch and then expand at your own will. Once Antioch is taken, Seleucid resistance crumbles. It's generally best to take on the Seleucids early as their early game units are inferior to yours, but their late game units are quite strong. However, a second possible tactic is to make an alliance with the [[Seleucid Empire (RTW Faction)|Seleucid Empire]] and while it lasts make a big army in your border cities to counter their betrayal when it happens, as it undoubtedly will at some stage.

Egypt has a very rich history indeed, they started with settlers on the nile, later they were formed into two kingdoms, upper and lower Egypt each with its own king and army. When the two finaly united they expanded into canaan, the promised land of the Isrealites around Jerusalem. From there they fought different empires mostly due to disputes over canaan. Later the land of Egypt was engulfed in the huge, evergrowing persian empire of darius whereby it was made a persian province. Alexander the great, son of Phillip II, conquered the land before moving on to swallow the persian empire. Alexander died in babylon leaving the empire to his succesors, one of wich were the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt, Rome: total war is set during the time when the Ptolemys fought the Seleucid dynasty over the land where Asia meets Africa. One of the historic battles featured in the game is the battle of Raphia which was fought between the Seleucids and Ptolemys during the time the game is set at.

Strategy

First of all, there is the threat from the Seleucid Empire to the north east. However, a second possible tactic is to make an alliance with the Seleucid Empire and while it lasts make a big army in your border cities to counter their betrayal when it happens, as it undoubtedly will at some stage.
