Well armoured professional soldiers. Confident and deadly.
Overview
Many longbowmen sign a contract of indenture with a captain to become part of his retinue or company. The captain then hires out their services to the king. Such men are in effect professional soldiers, and highly skilled archers. They're well armoured and equipped and confident in their own abilities.
Details
Retinue Longbowmen are the best ranged unit regularly available to the English, a nation renowned for their excellent archers; a true testimony to these men's expertise. Retinue Longbowmen are more heavily armored and equipped than their lesser ranked counterparts, the yeomen and regular longbowmen, making them better able to withstand lengthened melee engagements. Although their ranged attack is still comparable to that of the Yeomen's, the Retinue has long-range, as well as armour piercing, capabilities.
