;Errors in this file do not cause CTD or error message on loading campaign.  But will cause CTD without message when attempting to view building that doesn't have proper description entry.  If the affected building is only available to some factions, or isn't buildable till larger city sizes are reached then that CTD can occur late in game making it difficult to find source.  Therefore entries for new buildings must be checked carefully!

export_buildings.txt contains the text descriptions displayed for all the buildings in the game.

Note: in RTW and BI not having a description or title for a building in this file will cause a CTD without error message when attempting to view the city with the affected building.

minimum requirements for each building tree / level:

{edb_tree_name_name} a title

{edb_level_name} a title

{edb_level_name_desc} some text
{edb_level_name_desc_short} some text

{edb_level_name_culture_desc} some text
{edb_level_name_culture_desc_short} some text

edb_tree_name and edb_level_name must match exactly (including upper and lower case letters) the entries in export_descr_buildings.txt

The {edb_level_name_culture_desc} {edb_level_name_culture_desc_short} sections are needed for each culture in the game, where it is not expected for that culture to be able to build the building a message such as This text should never appear on screen! is normally inserted instead of descriptive text.

In addition to giving descriptions by culture more specific descriptions can be added for each culture, see How to add Building Descriptions by Faction by Dol Guldur.

Note that there can be duplicate entries in this file, if there are then the description that placed furthest down the file reading from the top is the one that will be used in the game. That can be the cause of some confusion when you think you've changed an entry and it does not appear in the game.

WARNING:

Errors in this file do not cause CTD or error message on loading campaign. But will cause CTD without message when attempting to view building that doesn't have proper description entry. If the affected building is only available to some factions, or isn't buildable till larger city sizes are reached then that CTD can occur late in game making it difficult to find source. Therefore entries for new buildings must be checked carefully!
