The World of Arcus is a fictional setting created by Jones King as underlay for the 3 soundtracks The New Age, The Legend of Antaphar, and a yet unnamed soundtrack album. The setting has since undergone extensive work and is described in full on this page.
The World
Arcus is the name for the huge island landmass populated by humans and beasts and is the main setting for Chronicles of Arcus. The only known sentient species on Arcus are the humans who enjoys the same technology level of that of the early middle-ages of Europe. The island enjoys a temperate climate in the north and central areas where as harsh desserts and stonefields stretches across the south and east of the island. North of the island lies the Ancient World where the humans first lived and evolved. But during the Age of Ice tribes of men fled across the great sea and settled upon the island.
The Age of Ice
This era is all but a forgotton chapter in the human history. It is known that when the Great Ice came from the north the kingdoms of the Ancient World stood against it for a thousands years until the Ice destroyed them. Eccarus the Seaking then took his peoples across the great seas and settled upon the the great island later named Arcus by Eccarus' followers.
The Golden Age
In this age the peoples that followed Eccarus the Seaking to Arcus began establishing cities and petty kingdoms across the northern lands of Arcus. The first petty kingdom to be established was Vana, ruled by the heir the to throne of a kingdom in the Ancient World. Although hailed a savior Eccarus wasn't treated as member of the royal families nor could he acsend to royal status. Therefore his sons founded the Kingdom of Trond in the lush forrest of the north and later on other decsendants of Eccarus (known as the eccarians) founded the kingdom Eccarus in the western lands of Arcus.
During this time The South was as it had always been since the destruction of the Empire, petty kingdoms and tribes laid claim to the lands.
