New mod project Announcement WorldTotalWar

Hey! I added a new project called WorldTotalWar, is a major modification for MTW2 in the ambientation of WW2.
I used a page of your wiki to public show this Mod. I didnt find better place.
Also, i pretend to organize this mod in a community way, so i thinked better to put in a wiki. I preview to use TWcenter to community develop this mod.
Take a look to WorldTotalWar and tell me! --MisticVisions 19:59, 4 March 2008 (CST)

Hi, MisticVisions, its fine to have a page charting progress of your mod on the wiki, but its not the best place to get feedback or recruit people. You would probably do better if you made an account on the forum and put your proposal in the M2 Wip Mod threads section. Be warned that people tend to think WWII mods are an unrealistic idea for the TW engine; demonstrating that you have realised some of the obstacles involved already might help avoid anyone being too harsh about your proposal! Good luck anyway :) - EDIT: Sorry just realised you said on other page you were trying this and not forum deliberately, I'm still not sure its likely to work out! Most of the people you've tried contacting on User Talk Pages aren't active modders so you're not likely to get helpful responses that way.....-Makanyane 01:39, 5 March 2008 (CST)

I found huge potential of wikis as a collaborative tool. More than endless thread forums who are confusing. Since wikis works by "community shaping", i thought first shaping it in "petit comité", The project will need an admin from this wiki and people to connect another people. Also a wiki should store better the knowlege, experimentation and results can be easily used from others.

About WTW project posts

First, you are going to need a experienced 3d modeler, and a person who has a bit of skill at changing destruction physics , all I could help with on this, IF IT WAS POSSIBLE is research.65.75.191.179 09:19, 5 March 2008 (CST)

The project will need people like you. Neverthenless, in a next step. Is a cannon elephant a tank? If we put in the estrategic level that its a tank and in tactical battle its requirements is like a tank, its sound like a tank, sure it is! (inmagination...) That what i mean with 0.1 versions. Later we will try to change the elephant engine to a real tank. Research is a common purpose in wiki. All mods should be developed in a wiki way so we will be able to share the knonwlege and potential of what we are doing. (limits, etc...) So, i will try to shape this project in this way. (In case of failure,... all research is useful!) The key is a good information system, wiki is and excellent tool.

Mak is right, you will probable have to wait for empire total war. The engine on m2tw isnt designed for battles like you have, and the campaign map wouldnt be big enough.65.75.191.179 09:19, 5 March 2008 (CST)

Probably i will have to wait to the official "world total war"... (joking) May be there will be some strategic airbattles and battle role-playing.

If you do have to wait for ETW it will be coming out in 4-8 months.65.75.191.179 09:22, 5 March 2008 (CST)

Wiki as a tool to develop tw mods

WTW

Have you decided about how you would want to go about on a mod like this mor ETW? Because I dont think M2TW would work. I could always make the paint textures on cannons look like pak75 artillery guns, but having machine guns and tanks would be another story.S.P.Q.R. Praetorian 22:10, 11 March 2008 (CDT)

Nice. Good new. I think that the project may go little running version integration progress. As i described, little steps by little steps always keeping a running version. And we will se how far this project can go. All work done here is done for a Etw. (mostly,... i hope)

Anyway, this project will be "posted" in this wiki. This wiki will show all open code, so people will can read it and discussed, and eventually changed. For non text code, such textures, 3d compiled, etc ... There will be a cvs control and archive from this wiki. Thats the idea for how to develop it.

Another issue is that this project will create non-project support wikiarticles. I mean, like how to compile that, or those, doubts will come to modders and it is not like a forum you will eventually post the same thing several times, just saying the wiki article is all said. Another thing is, here the thing are more easy seen.

So this project is an "experiment" in two-sides with a improvement collateral effect. - The project itself - The way to developped --MisticVisions 23:54, 11 March 2008 (CDT)

Good idea, Ill try to work on some WW2 artillery guns and see if I can recruit some help.S.P.Q.R. Praetorian 13:39, 12 March 2008 (CDT)

I also need to downsize a group of units to about 8 men, which is about platoon size. Another thing I need to figure out is how to make the guns fire as fast as machine guns, design Kar98, M1Garand, and then the Lee Enfield rifles, along with the MG42.S.P.Q.R. Praetorian 16:53, 12 March 2008 (CDT)
