Manstein16 joined Total War Center in October 2004, following the release of Rome: Total War. He remained at the site long enough to get a few answers questioned about the game before disappearing for over a year, returning in January 2006. During this time he made his entrance into the Political Mudpit and stayed around long enough to receive two PMs, one from Staff advising him not to flame members and another from Wilpuri offering patronisation. Another extended absence followed with a few brief forays into the 'Pit in August 2006. Manstein16 briefly returned to TWC in November 2006 following the release of Medieval 2: Total War. He reestablished contact with Wilpuri and received a patronisation offer from Simetrical before disappearing one last time. He came back to TWC in January 2007 during the beginning of the crisis that culminated in the sale of TWC to imb39. During this time he played an active role in speaking out against the actions of H&G and Horse Archer which ultimately resulted in his being placed in coventry mode along with numerous other members of TWC. Desiring to play a more active role in the development of TWC following the sale to imb39, Manstein16 took this opportunity to accept Simetrical's offer of patronisation, as he was under the mistaken impression that Wilpuri was taking a leave of absence from the site. In late January 2006, Manstein16 became a Civitate.

On February 28, 2007, Manstein16 was made a tribunos. He was ratified by the Curia a few weeks later.

On March 19, 2007, he was voted the Fastest Rising Newb and was the runner-up in the Best Debater category for 2006.

On April 3, 2007, he was nominated for the Patrician rank by the Black Prince.
