I launched this effort on TWC through [https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?818902 this thread]. But it has been on my mind for a long time. Look, I'd love to see GED come back, the administration revitalized with new blood and to not think in terms of starting anew, but as for why I don't see that happening, well, see the thread. This along with curating what exists on TWC is my priority, to make it as useful as it can be while it is alive and to ensure it is not all lost when it is not. That is the why.

Currently I'm updating the wiki backup, readying to back up twc downloads and smaller tw sections, and collaborating with [https://www.twcenter.net/forums/member.php?70700 Werety] to get the ball moving on tutorials. These paths are described in the above links.

Things have looked up a little since that time but the owner's absence remains an issue and I believe this project has value in any case, both for reviewing/optimizing what is currently available and so TWC is not left in the cold should the site go down and never return.
