After Action Reports and Community RPGs Forum Description
The After Action Reports and Community Role Playing Games Forum is divided into the After Action Reports , the Community Games section and threads regarding this forum in general.
or in short: AARs are gathered here. There are 3 major AAR sections:
- Rome: Total War AARs
- Medieval 2: Total War AARs
- Empire: Total War AARs
AAR Competitions
AARs for previous/or non Total War games are stored inside the 4. subforum, AAR Competitions. As the name already says, the Monthly After Action Reports Competition, or in short: MAARC, is held here.
Each months, writers can nominate their AARs if they were at least 2 times updated in the same month. After the 4 Week nomination period, usually a 10 days voting is held to find the 3 best AARs in this month.
Winning the MAARC gets you a score/leadership points:
- place: 4 points
- place: 3 points
- place: 2 points
These points can be gathered to finally gain the three AAR Competitions Medals!
Tale of the Week Contest
The Tale of the Week Contest is a good way to boost your creativity:
Each Week a picture, often from the Picture of the Week Contest, gets chosen and the participants write a short story, or tale about the picture, ranging from minimum 200 to 500 maximum words.
The winner of the weekly contest is awarded 1 point for the AAR Competitions Medals Scoreboard.
Forum Description
Role Playing Games, in short RPGs, are a complex and highly entertaining way to interact and "play" with other members on TWC.
People usually play Hotseat Campaigns. In general, all participants of one RPG choose one faction for the game and pick their characters (Family Members, Agents, etc) out of this faction. Then everyone acts out his role or character to turn a simple Total War campaign into a vivid theatre play or rather, a novel! Most RPGs have introduced a complex game system with political aspects and structures.
New Community Games are put together and proposed in the
Consulate Subforum.
Here is the list of the currently active RPGs:
- God Save the King! (A Medieval RPG) A world of political strife, great battles, and ever changing allegiances. The most active RPG.
- The First Triumvirate Come here to Join or Host Multiplayer Campaigns and AAR’S.
- You Are the Senate Roman RPG, second most active.
- Augustus! RTW hotseat/PBeM game, where all or several factions are controlled by human players.
- You Are The Congress An Empire Total War Interactive Campaign and Forum Role Playing Game. A new RPG.
- Kampf um Europa Battle for Europe - lead the Prussan Empire through the turbulent 18th century in this ETW community game. A new RPG.

AAR Spotlight
Gondor, Gondor between the mountains and the sea!
With the release of the Third Age: Total War Modification, it was only a matter of time until the first tales and stories began to unfold.
This Gondor AAR is written by 2 members, being: sithlord447 and Coeur de lion.
In a short introduction by Ecthelion, the current Steward of Gondor, he tells of a man that married his daughter. His name is Mistven, a trusted Captain of Gondor.
The AAR is written in form of excerpts from the Gondorian Annals; it tells the battles and bloody events through the eyes of Mistven, while the actions are commented on by Ecthelion, who as a Steward, stays at home and is forced to rely on news from the front.
Solid writing, mixed with small potions of poetry, the battle screenshots and of course the Lord of the Rings feeling make this AAR a nice read!
RPG Spotlight
Kampf um Europa (Battle for Europe) is a Community RPG/AAR Campaign that pits Prussia, commanded and led by a staff of TWC members, against the turbulent Europe of the 18th Century.
At its very core lies one basic rule: the campaign is what you make of it. No player is invincible, no player is all powerful. By working with or against your fellow Officers of the Reich, you have a direct say in the operation of the Empire.
In its current form, the General Staff forms the strategic level of the Reich. The War Branch, Doctrine Branch, and Internal Branch all work together under the direction of the Chief of Staff, to set policy, run economics and research, and develop and deploy the forces of the Landheer (Army), Kriegsmarine (Navy) and Deutsches Marine Korps (Marines).
Beneath them is a pool of Commissioned Officers, Admirals and Marines, who command the combat forces of the Reich in battle.

Workshop Spotlight
Giovi's Workshop
One of the most successful GW artists will present his Workshop to you:
"Well, I use and love photoshop because you can make everything and express the artist inside your soul...I keep exploring and learning; You can clearly see the difference between my old works and my new ones!
Most of the stuff in my workshop are signatures made for my personal use and for others members, but there also are several wallpapers as well as tons of other stuff.
For me, it is important to advertise mods and other sections of the forum.
Basically I love everything about digital art and I blend different pics in various ways to make something totaly different and personal.
In my works I want to express a great pathos and my works are generally dark."
Probably one of Giovi's best works is the Winner of the "Abstract" Themed GC:

Gallery Spotlight
Lolgast's Gallery
The Gallery of Lolgast is definately a proof how much people can enhance and improve their sense of picturetaking, as well as their skill to edit those pictures.
Lolgast started off with some pretty heavy and overdone editing, but even there - right at the beginning of his PotW carreer - you could spot that he understands how the basis picture has to look like to make a good final piece of art.
He started off with R:TW screens, with dark and somehow blurred graphics, then moved on to animated Pictures, including his famous "the last seconds before the end". After that he got active in the Graphics Workshop too, and by then you could see an impressive enhancement of his works.
When the Empire hype started, Lolgast was the first one to grab the opportunity by its horns and took an official screenshot from IGN, edited in and backed it up with a breathtaking background - this won him his first PotW contest.
After that his recent empire works have superb, warm graphics and do really please the eye! Example:
