Overview

Triggers are used in both the Rome: Total War and Medieval II: Total War games to control which Traits and Ancillaries a Character acquires.

Each triggers has 3 main components:

  • The event which the trigger is linked to (this determines when a trigger is activated)
  • The conditions that must be met at the time of the event
  • The resulting effects of the trigger.

In Rome: Total War/Barbarian Invasion if you are playing with Religion enabled, triggers are also used to give bonuses to characters for religious conversion rates and bonuses/penalties to order if a certain religion is dominant in a particular settlement.

Triggers are used to generate advice from the advisor.

In Medieval II: Total War/Kingdoms triggers are used to determine faction standing and guild interactions.
