    Overview

True knights in shining armour, in principle at least, these men espouse the noble ideals of chivalry and honour. In reality they are brutally effective warriors who practice their skills daily in tournaments and mock fights. On the battlefield, their steel plate protection makes them hard to kill. Although most fight mounted, those that go on foot wield their maces with deadly effect.

    Details

Dismounted Imperial Knights are one of the best heavy infantry unit available to the Holy Roman Empire. Their armour piercing maces mean that no foe, heavily armoured or not, can escape from them. They wear plate armour, providing them with adequate protection from missiles. But while their armour may be better than the armour worn by Dismounted Feudal Knights, they do not have as high attack stats, meaning they are a better defensive unit than them. They can be used for settlement defence as well as for besieging. While they cost the same upkeep as Dismounted Feudal Knights, they do require a higher level citadel, a building, which does not come cheaper. Overall, when playing as the Holy Roman Empire, this unit should be used in tandem with the Dismounted Feudal Knights to form the backbone of your army.
