Total War: Warhammer II is an instalment in the Total War series, and the sequel to 2016's Total War: Warhammer. It was released in September 2017.

A cinematic trailer for the game was released in April 2017.

General Information

Set in the same Warhammer Fantasy universe as its predecessor, Warhammer II features a campaign map that spans across the continents of Lustria, Ulthuan, Naggaroth and the Southlands with four playable factions with two legendary Lords each giving players a total of eight unique starting positions.

Features

The campaign focuses around the New World and Great Vortex, seeing the player and AI race to gain control over the Vortex - to then either heal it and prevent destruction, or disrupt it and cause chaos. This aims to create a climatic end-game seeing the AI rush to beat the player to the end-game objective.

Owners of both Total War: Warhammer and Total War: Warhammer II can play a Mortal Empires campaign, using a huge map that combines both the Old and New world maps and factions from both games. This feature was released in October 2017. Mortal Empires can be played with only Warhammer II installed, as long as you also have the first Warhammer game in your Steam library.

Factions

There are four major playable factions:

  • High Elves
  • Dark Elves
  • Lizardmen
  • Skaven

The campaign map is a similar physical size to the original Total War: Warhammer, but with a third more conquerable regions.
