The Eastern Roman Empire are one of the playable factions in the Barbarian Invasion for Rome: Total War.
Its primary enmeny is the Sassanid Empire to the East, though Barbarian Hordes encroaching on Rome may prove a problem in Eastern Europe.
Historically, the Eastern Roman Empire survived the fall of Rome. It is playable as the Byzantine Empire in Medieval II: Total War.

The Eastern Roman Empire start the game as occupiers of much of Southeastern Europe, also holdiang land in Asia Minor, the Levant, and North Africa.
