Ah thanks for the info, yeah I'm quite new to this thing here... signing is only encouraged on pages like these? So whatever articles I change and create it is all visible to you guys, ok good to know. It seemed that this wiki is very anonymus, but that's not the case apparently =)

What about the Main Page anyway? Who decides on which articles are outdated, and what the new ones should be about?

User Pages

HI Makanyane, it has come to my notice that users are posting new pages for links to their TWC profiles, there are User pages to place personal pages, as you well know, what can I/we/ moderators do about this?

Also is there a link to the current moderators? Thanks! Magnus 11:30, 20 September 2007 (CDT)

As the Wiki is partly about the TWC website and its users there are a lot of articles which are about the users of the forum - in some but not all cases users have the same username on both forum and wiki. There can be an article page made about any forum user involved with the TW games on TWC, Org or other sites. The article pages are legitimate and should show the forum users history and be titled with their forum username see for instance Shigawire which is a fairly basic page about a modder who is not a wiki user, having a link to the persons forum profiles also seems useful in this context (if for instance you wanted to contact a modder about their mod which is mentioned here).
An article page about someone should be factual, in the context of what is known about that forum user. If someone is a wiki user they can have both an article about their forum persona, and also a wiki user page, the wiki user page would be expected to have more latitude in terms of what can be posted there. However the user can if they wish divert the user page to their article if they have an appropriate one.
did any of that make sense? If not Scorch is the current wiki-editor, and there is an on forum disscussion area here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=489 (I did try getting a discussion area going in TWC_Wiki:Pub but most users are forum based so that didn't really take off) -Makanyane 12:42, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
What you are saying makes perfect sense but is it not what User pages are for? I do not wish to make this into something it isn't so sorry if it seems I am trying to stir up an argument. Magnus 12:55, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
Yes, I am just going on Wikipedia's policy of "a page created by user about or concerning a user is forbidden" OWTTE. Therefore ~The Doctor~ would not be allowed as it is clearly made by BLB about himself/ his profile [1]. I appreciate you getting back to me so quick and thankyou about the info on Scorch I will take it up with that user as you are not a moderator (no offence, I just dont want you bogged down in something which does not concern you). Nah that still sounded derogotory. Regards Magnus 13:10, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
Sorry about my ranting fiasco, I will be more concerned about the current articles rather than userpages in future. Magnus 07:58, 23 September 2007 (CDT)
I assure you I will be the first. I assure you I will not be the last. Would it kill you to sign comments? I don't expect to have to look at the page history to find out who has vandalised my talkpage. Thankyou for experimenting on MY talkpage. Twcenter is dead, long live Magnus. Edit. Please stop posting red links on to my page. They're making me feel sick. Next time you want to post on my talkpage, ask for my permission first, via your talk page. Twcenter is dead, long live Magnus. JamesMarat 06:52, 24 September 2007 (CDT)

Blocked User

Hi I have been using the special:Recentchanges page to keep up to date on the comings and going on this wiki. I agree with the block of User:JamesMarat, that is not in doubt but one believes that it is only 'human' to administer warnings beforehand. You failed to do this by notifying him on his talk page but its OK no harm done. Oh and remember to sign your posts using: ~~~~ Magnus 12:11, 24 September 2007 (CDT)

I'd agree in principle to leaving a warning, especially if it was someone who had previously made positive contributions, however he had not responded positively to the normal please do not experiment (for experiment read vandalise) message - which I confess I forgot to sign. He did appear to be actively vandalising the wiki again and was using inappropriate language here. He had also made absolutely no positive contributions to the wiki under that user name so I think the chances of the account reforming where probably non-existent and giving time for warning and response more likely to escalate the problem. I will discuss details privately with the current sysops / admins though. Anyway, it is good to know we've got someone else keeping an eye on Recent Changes, thanks for that Magnus. -Makanyane 12:59, 24 September 2007 (CDT)
No problem Mak, I have re-read my latest comment to you and I did not wish to come over so brash. We'll have to look out for juplicates, James_Marat's, James Marat's etc. Happy posting! Magnus 14:37, 24 September 2007 (CDT)
Hi, would it not be better just to block the user (User:JamesMarat) from editing, not everyone with the same IP? I notice that I was forbidden from editing from my College, where I am editing from now. This IP is for all of Kriklees' schools, colleges etc so therefore to block the IP would forbid many innocent users, thanks Magnus 07:18, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
I have passed request to technical admin to review the block and adjust as they feel appropriate, I hadn't thought that you should be affected using your pre-existing account, but I don't know much about the inner workings of the system! The innocent users point is a good one, unfortunately in this as in many things one person behaving badly can have side effects that affect others. I apologise if it has caused you any inconvenience. Regards Makanyane 10:05, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
It wasn't much of an inconvienience, just about an 3 hours of posting time gone from college, I am was fine, last night, at home so no problem. BTW who is the technical boffin? Magnus 15:46, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
Sorry again and Technical boffin = User:Simetrical - Makanyane 01:55, 26 September 2007 (CDT)
