The Ma Clan of Liang is one of the playable factions in Total War: Three Kingdoms. It is one of the 11 immediately playable in the base game, with no achievement or DLC requirements.

Historical Background

Start Position

The Ma Clan starts in Wudu Commandery. It's starting leader is Ma Teng. Pang De and Ma Chao also start as part of it.

Unique Mechanic

The Ma Clan get increased supplies factionwide as well as a special foraging stance that lets them increase supply gain even more.

Unique Buildings

  • Xiliang Supply Lines - Increases military supplies for allied armies, while decreasing them for enemy armies. Also increases food from foraging.

Initial Dilemma

The Ma Clan's dilemma triggers if/when Dong Zhuo meets his end. Without their tyrannical leader, Dong Zhuo’s faction will splinter as a civil war breaks out between the loyalists and the separatists.

  1. Do you join the conflict and open himself up to a huge war right on your doorstep?
  2. Or do you avoid bloodshed and leave Dong Zhuo’s riven faction to its own fate?
