Zhou
Name: The Dong Clan of Liang
From Game: Total War: Three Kingdoms
Culture: Han
Playable: Yes

The Dong Clan of Liang is one of the playable factions in Total War: Three Kingdoms. It requires that the player either defeat Dong Zhuo's army or reach Emperor rank in another campaign before being unlocked.

Historical Background

Start Position

The Dong Clan starts in Chang'an Commandery. It's starting leader is Dong Zhuo. Lu Bu, Zhang Liao, Niu Fu, Guo Si, Li Jue, Jia Xu, and Li Ru also start as part of it.

The living family tree consists of Dong Zhuo, his brother Dong Min, his wife Dong Peishan, his daughter Dong Li, and his adopted son Lu Bu.

Emperor Xian starts under their control, and so the Han Empire is their vassal.

Unique Mechanic

Intimidation - A resource the Dong Clan gain by winning battles, conquering or annexing territory, and executing characters. Intimidation falls when battles are lost, characters are promoted, and decays over time. High Intimidation increases satisfaction and decreases corruption.

The Dong Clan can also raze cities.

Unique Units

  • Xiliang Cavalry
  • Heavy Xiliang Cavalry

Initial Dilemma

The Dong Clan's dilemma changes between Romance and Records mode. It also is based off a series of events rather than a single decision.

  1. Romance: The dilemma chain focuses around Diaochan, the beautiful serving girl who turned Dong Zhuo and Lü Bu against each other with their jealousy (which eventually led to Dong Zhuo’s death).
  2. Records: The dilemma chain is based around personal differences between Dong Zhuo and Lü Bu, as well as the political scheming of Wang Yun.
