Overview

Moderators ensure the Terms of Service are followed, advise the Hexagon Council (site administrators) in policy and initiative, and occasionally perform upkeep when local moderation is not available (with respect to the original content and poster). Members in good standing can volunteer and will join the team if approved by a general vote of Moderators and Administrators.

Most Moderators have global access and can equally respond to questions and issues. If nothing else they can point you in the right direction if they can't resolve it themselves. The department is headed by the Moderation Overseer (the branch administrator), who can address more complicated questions and issues.

Local moderators are not part of the site staff - they maintain stickies for their forum and keep it tidy. They are the best contact for local questions, but conduct issues, spam and so forth should go to site moderation.

If a message is problematic, you can use the report feature. Otherwise, all moderators can recieve private messages. If you have a particularly sensitive request, you may wish to contact the Moderation Overseer directly or any other Administrator. If you aren't registered or want to contact the Administration in general, you can use the site contact form or reach out to us over Discord.

History

Main article: History of Total War Center

Moderation was once divided into several roles and multiple colors (an abridged visual history of colors and names can be found at Badges). This has streamlined over time. In the earliest days the global moderators known as Praetors were colored green; around 2010 following a large reform of the system (including the addition of emeritus and streamlining of roles) this changed to navy blue, a color which may still be seen in older moderation posts from the 2010s and early 2020s. The color was used until mid 2024, when the Hexagon Council authorized a change to green. Green was used by Modding Staff for a time, but by the time of this change it had long fallen out of use.
