The Gauls are one of the playable factions in Rome: Total War. They can be played after successfully completing a campaign as a Roman faction or if unlocked by modding / cheats.

Game Play

Gauls are barbarian civilization, it is very hard playng them because they start just above The House of Julii wich seeks expansion.

Starting Position

Gauls start in modern France and upper Italy. they control few cities in France and two of them are bordered by House of Julii in Italy, they are also bordered by Spain to the east and Britons to the north.

ALESIA- Capital CONDATE RODONUM- safe inside empire, located deep inside modern France PATAVIUM- high population growth , bordered by Julii, upper Italy LEMONUM - safe inside empire, located deep inside modern France MEDIOLANUM - located in upper Italy , bordered by Julii NARBO MARITUS - bordered by Spain to east


Win Conditions

LONG CAMPAIGN: Hold 50 regions including Rome SHORT CAMPAIGN: Hold 15 regions and outlast or destroy Julii

Units

Gauls are fierce fighters and have many infantry but few cavalry support. Infantry can use warcry, special ability that takes 10 seonds to preform and gives attack bonus next 30 seconds.


Unique Units

Naked fanatics: Can be recruited by building certain shrines, have high attack damage
