The Seleucid Empire are one of the playable factions in Rome: Total War. They can be played after successfully completing a campaign as a Roman faction or if unlocked by modding / cheats.

Game Play

Starting Position

The Seleucid Empire begin in a very vulnerable position, just south of Pontus, in what is modern day Central Turkey. They are bordering and surrounded by Pontus, Egypt, the Greeks and the Parthians (Persians), and are usually defeated early on because of this.

Win Conditions

Units

The Seleucids are lucky and have a very wide range of troops, ranging from phalanxes and imitated legions, to cataphacts, chariots and even elephants!

Unique Units

The Seleucid Empire have many great troop types, but unique to them is the Silver Shield Warriors, which come as pikemen or imitation legions. These men are the best legions available (apart from Rome's, of course!) and have the best true pikemen available (Macedon have Royal Pikemen, but these aren't true pikemen put hoplites).
