Persia is an unplayable minor faction in Empire: Total War.

Starting Position

Persia is an Islamic empire that is quite large for a minor nation, although not always very powerful. They have a relatively stable position at the beginning of the game, with the disorganized and weakening Ottoman Empire to the west, the relatively weak minor nations of Georgia and Dagestan to the north, and the crumbling Mughal Empire to the east. Persia can make an excellent trade partner due to its usually long life and its abundance of territories, and may prove to be a useful ally or buffer against the Ottomans, the Mughals, or (later on) the Maratha. Along with Portugal, Persia is one of only two minor nations to have territory in more than two theaters; Persia possesses Afghanistan, an Indian region, as well as its European regions.
