Prussia is one of the 11 playable nations in Empire: Total War's Grand Campaign. It is also a major faction in the game.
Overview
Prussia is a German kingdom. The country isn't one of the main European powers yet and the its leader has only just become king. While other empires already own large colonies in America and India, Prussia has not begun colonizing yet and has to establish itself on the European continent beforehand. While the country borders the Baltic Sea, it is no real naval power and its focus lies on its land-based military. Prussia is aiming to expand in Germany and Eastern Europe but other major powers such as Austria, Poland, Sweden and eventually Russia will make any sort of conquest in these regions difficult. Furthermore, Germany itself is divided into several small states, most of which are protected by other major powers. Therefore, any attempt at unifying the German principalities will most likely result in a major war.
While the Prussian state is built on its military, diplomacy will be an invaluable tool if the country wants to establish itself fully. Other Protestant countries such as Great Britain or Sweden could turn out to be useful allies. If Prussia ever wants to become a major power compareable to nation states such as France or Spain, it has to seek dominance over the smaller German states in order to lay the foundation for a united German empire. Only then will colonization become possibly.
Starting Position
Prussia lies in Middle and Eastern Europe on the shores of the Baltic Sea. The country is ruled by an absolute monarch from its capital Berlin in Brandenburg. Furthermore, East Prussia and its capital Königsberg are under Prussian rule. However, East Prussia and Brandenburg are not connected to each other. Between them there lies Gdansk, one of Poland's cities. To the west and southwest, Prussia's Brandenburg borders the minor nations Hanover and the Polish protectorate Saxony. In Brandenburg's east there lies the kingdom of Poland-Lithuania which also borders East Prussia to the south and west. In the north, East Prussia is bordered by yet another Polish protectorate, Courland. While Prussia doesn't have a fleet at the beginning of the game, there is a Prussian field army in East Prussia along with garrisons in Berlin and Königsberg. Furthermore, Prussia starts the game with the gentleman Leibniz and a college in Magdeburg where different technologies can be researched.

Units
Prussia fields a typical European army, similar to that of the surrounding states. The country's army consists of units such as line infantry, light infantry, hussars, ulans, militia and several standard artillery units. Later on, Prussia gets access to other units such as guards and household cavalry. If a lower-class revolution succeeds in turning the absolute monarchy into a republic, Prussia will be able to train weak conscript units as well. The Prussian army is generally well-trained and powerful. One example would be the kingdom's line infantry which has better morale and accuracy than most others.
Prussia's navy is nothing special and consists of the standard lineup which most other factions share. The Prussian fleet includes trade ships, weaker ones such as brigs and sloops but also strong first and second rate frigates.
Special Units
While Prussia does not field many unique units, the faction does have access to a few. Ulans are one of them, although some surrounding nations can train them as well. Prussian jaegers, a skirmisher unit, are another semi-unique unit since the Austrian Empire and a few minor factions can also build them.
The only truly unique unit Prussia can field is the death's head hussar. However, it is only available if you pre-ordered the game from game.co.uk.
