The following is a list of ranks as described in the TWC [[Constitution]].
Badges are used to quickly identify [[Staff]] or various forms of [[Citizen]] on [[Total War Center]]. More rarely seen are the badges of [[Curial Officers]]. The site has a long history with its badges, dating back to the beginning of the site and appearing in different designs as the site has changed. Redesigns often corroborated with a site theme or recent game release, though this practice has slipped in recent years.  


The [[Total War Center]] is unique in its format. The [[Constitution]], delegates specific responsibilities and privileges/powers by rank, allowing the membership some say in the day-to-day operations of the site. A body called the [[Curia]], composed of members in good standing, is the primary vehicle through which the Constitution is mediated [affected] and altered. The following ranks have some special power, privilege or responsibility described and circumscribed by the [[Syntagma]]. Members who hold certain ranks can choose to wear badges associated with them. These badges have changed in appearance in order to be of a style related to the most recent ''[[Total War]]'' game; in order of release, these were ''[[Rome: Total War]]'', ''[[Medieval II: Total War]]'', ''[[Empire: Total War]]'', and most recently ''[[Total War: Rome 2]]''.
Users are also distinguished by the color of their name, and additional badges or roles can be seen below the primary badge they identify as (unless they choose none, in which case only the group names are seen). Users who are [[moderators]] or [[administrators]] are always primarily identified by those badges, otherwise users have agency how to display their groups.

Members also hold office to perform various tasks. Officers can be divided into Curial Officers and Staff Officers.

The site has a long history with its badges, dating back to the beginning of the site and appearing in different designs as the site has changed. Redesigns often corroborated with a site theme or recent game release, though this practice has slipped in recent years.

Users are also distinguished by the color of their name, and additional badges or roles can be seen below the primary badge they identify as (unless they choose none, in which case only the group names are seen). Users who are moderators or administrators are always primarily identified by those badges, otherwise users have agency how to display their groups.

The update to xenForo in 2025 allowed multiple badges to be displayed per user, with links to an explanation about each category, as seen in the example below:


Some badges from the vBulletin version of the site are shown below. The Troy style badges previously used on the forum were removed at the artist's request, see here, the badges shown below came second in the competition held to choose Troy themed badges.
